How Long Does Mississippi Take To Send/post Nclex Results?
I took mine on the 8th as well, but in Mobile instead of Jackson. Friends who took it the same day in Jackson got theirs today.... If the PVT is a sign, I passed. I know they only refresh the system once a day so maybe tomorrow we'll get our results! The wait is KILLING ME! Good luck to all!

Do you snitch on cheaters?
Just something for you to ponder..... If they'll cheat on a test, think of what else they'll "cheat" on. I'm a student as well. I have worked very very very hard to get where I am. It isn't fair for you or me to graduate becoming a nurse when we have honestly made our way through knowing that they have not. Personally, I would say something to the dean or an instructor that you trust. If these folks are cheating on tests, they are hurting themselves the most, but what I fear is them hurting a patient. Just my 2cents

What the heck do these people think?
Is it just me, or has anyone else encountered people (non-nursing students) that make comments like :angryfire"Oh, ns can't be that hard" or "Why do you have to study so much" or "She doesn't need anything for test anxiety". Unless you are in ns, or been through it, these folks honestly don't have a clue. One of my fellow students has really bad text anxiety. On the scantron she marked 14 answers "off a row" and missed them all and actually had them correct. Her spouse told her to just shake it off that there isn't anything wrong, she just needs to re-adjust her test taking skills - that doing poorly on one test isn't a big deal. Well, one poor grade in ns can be difficult to pull up. I know I am rambling on, but I sure wish there was a way for people to see the sacrifices we as students make in order to make it through ns. It just burns me up! What do y'all think?

Fall Adn-i Need Advice From Newly Accepted Students Or Current Adn Students!
It couldn't hurt you to go ahead and start. You'll have to have a 2 step TB test performed. You go one day get stuck, wait 5 ? days (can't remember) get stuck again, then they'll "read" and see if you are negative 2 or 3 days later. You'll have to have the health dept or whomever to fill out a form saying you've had it done (I might wait until after the 17th to get this one done.). On your Hep B shots and stuff, you can start now. That's a series of 3 shots given over time. Personally, I'd go ahead and start to get it going and that's just that much less you have to worry about. Gotta have a physical. They'll give you all the forms and such at your interview. You'll have to be CPR certified as well. If you can find a class, go ahead and take it. Sometimes the school has them, or you can call the red cross or SCRMC and see who's having classes. They should have some somewhere this summer.

Fall Adn-i Need Advice From Newly Accepted Students Or Current Adn Students!
Hi there! Just wear regular street clothes. You'll probably be in an "interview" with about 8 or 9 other people. You sit around the table and she'll hand you different papers on what shots you have to have, when you'll be fitted for uniforms, etc. They'll have you write a small statement explaining why you want to be a nurse. That sort of thing. When is your interview?

Well, I had an A to begin with, now I'm happy with a C. Like someone else told me A, B, or C = RN. Be prepared, you're going to see them drop. But you have to remember, this will be like no other classes you've ever had. The tests are the same way. It isn't that you aren't capable, you just have to reorient your way of thinking and learning. You have to KNOW your stuff. Memorizing won't get it. Strive for good grades - obviously. The further you go, the harder it gets. When you get to Cardio, test avgs drop 10 points. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm telling you what my class and myself has faced. :wink2:

Don't buy too much just yet. They have specific things they want you to get. You'll have to have ALL WHITE shoes. The only thing they'll except with any color is the NurseMate shoes with the little blue heart. Black pens are something you'll need. They'll only allow you to use black at the hospital. LOTS of PAPER!!! Get ready to work out hand cramps!! Lots and lots of notes. You'll get a list of books to buy. I went to the book store on campus and get the ISBN #'s - write them down. Then I went to 1/2.com and bought them for $250 less than the book store! As far as the baths and stuff, ladies in one lab, men in the other. You strip down to your underwear. It's not a big deal. One thing I would encourage you to do is go to the school website, adn program and download the SCRMC safety module. Start reading now. It's alot to comprehend, but it isn't too bad. You'll be tested on it. If you make below an 80, you cannot go to the hospital for clinicals. They'll give you several chances to retake, but learn it now, take it once and don't have to worry about it anymore. Let me know if you want to know more and maybe I can help you out some more!
