  1. Im in my 3rd semester of RN at jones...but my cousin is starting lpn in the fall. she started in jan but didnt make it so this will be her second go round! well good luck to ya if ya need any help or advice just let me know
  2. that may be true but ive heard these things not only from my school but from employers sooo yeah its a known fact that the best nurses come outta jcjc! and im proud to go there!!!! lol
  3. I am in my second semester of adn at jcjc....it is known throughout the state as being the toughest adn program...but ive heard a thousand times that the surrounding hospitals will hire someone from jones before any other school so that must say something....it is extremely hard but i dont really have anything to compare it to...but if it wasnt hard i would be worried i think that the challenge will make us better nurses in the end....i absolutely love it so far im excited to be learning some many new things and to be able to apply them in clinical!
  4. i feel ya we had check offs first day back for venipuncture and we had a poptest friday...so looks like we are on the same track.... we are out mon and tues but wed we will go to the hospital to get assignments and clinicals start back thurs and friday! we started off with the integ. system and now we are on the endo system we have our first unit test next monday....i am not looking forward to caths and ng tube suctioning!! we also do a tb workshop pretty soon...we have to attend a support group and do a paper on it
  5. well we lost about half! its been crazy...we go back the 9th for orientation
  6. congrats to everyone that passed 1st semester i know i was so excited....so do you know how many ppl are left from what you started with? We started with 60 and we are down to 37 goin on to nsg 2...
  7. love this thread...this was exactly my idea! but my bday is next week so i was kinda thinking sooner than later cause i really need a drug book because i hate my med deck it takes for ever to look up drugs! I also want a really cute id badge clip i found that is covered in cloth and you can get your initial on it really cute! and i went to a expo last week at our state convention and one had out was really neat it was a little cover that goes on your steth so its not cold but you can only use it for a week to prevent bacteria growth
  8. we have clinical from 7-1130 and i about starve everyday lol but our clinicals are pretty structured we have a list of things we are req to do daily especially if we are doin a care plan.....we get our assignments "pts" on monday afternoon stay up all night writing a daily plan then the next day preconference 7-730 i go in introduce myself tell the pt what we are goin to be doin that day....go gather my supples to take vitals (bp cuff, pulse ox., them.) take vs., gather supplies for bed bath and linen change...do those things all while communicating with pt and assessing skin and other things....i chart look at dr orders and try to make the most out of my time and have a good day!
  9. yea you would want to assess their knowledge of the disease and their prescribed management because the only thing to really to is to yes maintain their condition because it will be hard for them to carry out their lifestyle modifications if they do not fully understand the effects of their condition. another priority would be to have routine bp checks
  10. yes i am referring to the skin. I said risk for b/c pt doesn't have infection yet but is prone to one bc of incision
  11. You Could Use Risk For Infection Rt Break In First Line Of Defense
  12. im working on my first care plan.....im having trouble coming up with goals/outcomes for the nsg dx: risk for aspiration r/t difficulty swallowing...any takers??
  13. yeah right i dont have time to cook hardly my husband is threatening divorce lol.....
  14. wow thats crazy are you in a 2yr adn program...we have been goin to clinicals since the middle of sept they just threw us in there...it was crazy...but we are use to it now!
  15. i was just wondering when your school started classes cause we started school in aug and we checked off on vitals like a month ago...are yall already doin clinicals?
