It has come to my attention that an RN colleague of mine at work is purposely claiming to be an LPN so they can avoid certain tasks and having people ask them for help. As a manager, I completely understand being overwhelmed by the number of requests other people have, but lying about one's licensure doesn't seem to be the best way of resolving this concern. I wonder if they realize that others can look them up on the Board of Nursing website. I'm sure there could be possible legal ramifications if problems were to arise. Has anyone else ever encountered this, and, if so, how was it handled?

In my first couple of years of nursing back in the mid 80's, as an LPN working in psych, I actually applied for an ES position and talked with the department's manager.
Makes me wonder, "What if..."

No shame here Hoosier_RN. After nursing for 30 years, this is where I'm at and I would be elated if tomorrow, I didn't have to 'nurse' any more. Keep my pay the same (or a little less perhaps) and I will gladly put in my AirPods and go about emptying trash, making beds, and dusting/mopping all day while having a smile for a change:)

Me too!
My goodness ,just the title of this topic makes me crack a smile.Yes we do have those that deny experience, past management positions in order to avoid certain tasks ,floating, hard patient assignments.Have not encountered fake credential downgrade situation, but I am sure there are some. There have been questionable degree situations, where a nurse kept stalling presenting her paperwork from foreign degree institution. It is a flower garden with weeds among the blossoms.

About 10 years ago, the ANA offered name badges that would attached to you work badge that said (I am a registered nurse.) The print was large so that patients could read it, I mean REALLY read it. I wore the attachment to my hospital provided name tag. An RN with Case Management thought this was so funny, she made copies of the (I am a registered nurse) for a post it note in LARGE letters and thought this was hysterical. No one used them.
