ok, so I just started at this long term care facility not too long ago. Just yesterday I was passing by the staffing coordinator (who thinks shes God) obviously since she got put their by HR....walked past her and said hi, with eye contact and she did not even acknowledge me! what lack of ethics! yet she comes to me two hours later and asks "heh can you work the evening shift tommorrow".....I pretended like I could not even hear her and continued charting.
After her second try when she came closer to me I told her probably (not) and that I would think about it and would call her once I got home... At home I took my sweet time relaxing, watched my damn sports highlights and called her back and told her a big fat NO. could have paid $$$ to feel the sobby expression in her voice. Vengeance is glorious!
I think I might be confused here. Lol I have been having a hectic week and when I saw the title "Ranting" I thought maybe someone else can relate.
I am a little concerned for you and your quick interpretation of someone not saying "hi" back to you, or awknowledging you means they are purposefully trying to make your life miserable......
I truly hope that there is more to the story than this....... I also recommend maybe getting thicker skin? If being ignored sometimes bugs you, nursing is going to kick your..... well you know.
We constantly are ignored by doctors, patients, staffing. Sometimes it is not on purpose and sometimes it is intentional. Oh well, get over it and move on!!

Hmmmm, me thinks that your start at this new job is not a good one. How about being the bigger person here? Maybe your staffing coordinator had a lot on her mind (like how to fill an open shift) and truly did not see/hear you as you passed her in the hall?
You'll know you really showed her in all your vengence-ful glory when your next schedule comes out and you've got shifts that NOONE wants to work.
Lots of luck to you in this new job. Something tells me you will need it....
a lot of times I can't remember people's names long after I should be able to learn them. I always feel bad when I have to ask someone to work and extra shift when I come across like I don't care enough to make the effort to learn their name. It's called poor facial recognition skills. If someone does make eye contact with me and says hi, I always say hi back. I'm wondering if u two have some history we don;t know about

I know there are times when I don't hear people talking to me. If I'm busy charting I block everything else out. I think that is a byproduct of raising 4 kiddos. Not that I'm rude.
