Nurses General Nursing

ok, so I just started at this long term care facility not too long ago. Just yesterday I was passing by the staffing coordinator (who thinks shes God) obviously since she got put their by HR....walked past her and said hi, with eye contact and she did not even acknowledge me! what lack of ethics! yet she comes to me two hours later and asks "heh can you work the evening shift tommorrow".....I pretended like I could not even hear her and continued charting.

After her second try when she came closer to me I told her probably (not) and that I would think about it and would call her once I got home... At home I took my sweet time relaxing, watched my damn sports highlights and called her back and told her a big fat NO. could have paid $$$ to feel the sobby expression in her voice. Vengeance is glorious!

If I'm asked to work extra and I don't answer, it means, 'NO'!

The funniest nurse I ever worked with would get offered 25 dollars to stay for another 4 hours. She was 70 years old, she was already double-dippiing and she only worked to give presents to her loved ones, including her staff. THis is what she would say "I will give YOU 25 dollars to stop asking me and go away now". Tee hee!! Cracked me up all thetime, especially when people would threaten to report her,we would all crack up. One DNS said "I might have to call the state on you, you abused a resident..." she said "Well, if YOU were trained that a resident has the RIGHT to sit in diarrehea all night, then you might need to report me, I however do NOT support that right, and in fact, REQUIRED him to comply with getting cleaned up, and while that may very well have been a violation of his resident rights, well...do what you must". DNS went away and never brought it up again. FUNNY, FUNNY lady.

Doesn't sound like you're going to be there too long.

Good luck.

Yes, she was wrong to not speak when you spoke to her, but, as some have stated, maybe she was pre-occupied and really didn't see or hear you?

You are quite angry and jealous, it seems. Pardon me if I'm wrong.

Ethics? Not quite.

Unprofessional? YOU sure were

I don't think he was unprofessional. He was foolish and he is very angry and unhappy and jealous. But I don't think he was unprofessional. After all, if the boss can "not hear" him due to being preoccupied with staffing or whatever other matters, why can't he be preoccupied with his charting and other professional duties?

OP, what is it that you really want to do in life? In Nursing?

Jeez, with my mounting bills, send that staffer my way, I am looking for extra shifts, lol

I love this nurse :D

Wow...talk about being passive aggressive...

I don't know, OP sounds rather aggressively aggressive.

I have at times been so lost in thought that I have had people stand in front of me and wave their hands around to get my attention. Fortunately, they think it's funny and do not want to bring the wrath of the heavens down upon me.
