PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

Published

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

Dusky, Nope, it's 90+% You can go online to the board of nursing in your state and see how each individual school did last quarter (and prior to that). My school was 96% pass. Most are in the high 80s to high 90s. Those with really low results may not be somewhere you want to be.

I took my RN boards August 26th at 2pm in MN. I got 75 questions and there was a couple drag-and-drops and a lot of select all. I tried the trick and it went to the credit card page which freaked me out. I noticed that the website looked different when I logged on to do the trick and now I am hoping that means it doesn't work anymore. I really hope I passed but I am scared. I even have looked stuff up online that I had not been sure about and found that I was right. I'll let you all know how it went but good luck to you all.

Hi Krystal215,

I also took my NCLEX-RN August 26th but at 8am in Florida and am so worried that I didn't pass because it took me to the CC page. My heart just dropped. I have taken this test once before July 8th,2014 and failed at 140 questions. The second time I took it was August 26th with 265 questions and my last question being a Select All That Apply Question. I am so freaked about this. Makes me really sad. I really hope that they revamped the website and that if you are able to go to the credit card page this doesn't mean you FAILED still…. We will see. Best of luck to you all :-)

I did pass!! I just checked on the MNBON and it said examination passed!!

Did you go to the MNBON and click on the link that says "LOOKUP- Verify a license"??? How did you find out you passed already?

Wow, that throws a whole new light on the threads where people have failed three or four times. I've kind of always thought that maybe the universe is trying to tell them something.....now I think that even more.

No worries for me, the school I have applied to has an excellent community reputation, great reviews from recent students whom I have talked to in person not just online, and a pass rate commensurate with what you have told me.

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE.

I had 265 questions and my last question was a SELECT ALL THAT APPLY QUESTION. According to KAPLAN if your last question is an ABOVE LEVEL QUESTION you pass the test. HOWEVER, if the last question is a below level question you fail. Does anyone know if select all that apply questions are considered above level questions?

Thank you, freaking out!

There is no telling, Kaplan doesn't make the test so unless you see it written somewhere from the actual NCLEX creators I would take it as a grain of salt.
