PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

Published

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

I took my RN boards August 26th at 2pm in MN. I got 75 questions and there was a couple drag-and-drops and a lot of select all. I tried the trick and it went to the credit card page which freaked me out. I noticed that the website looked different when I logged on to do the trick and now I am hoping that means it doesn't work anymore. I really hope I passed but I am scared. I even have looked stuff up online that I had not been sure about and found that I was right. I'll let you all know how it went but good luck to you all.

How did you find out so fast from the BON??

Just found out that I passed... Praise GOD.... If you are in Fl you can check exam results... seems like it's updated before Pearson b/c my status still says results unavailable

The extreme sense of entitlement and the amount of analyzing each and every tiny little microscopic detail is literally making me sick. However, I do envy your life, as your parents must have given you EVERYTHING and MORE in order to keep you quiet....and probably still do.

But I can't stop reading the comments. I. Can't. STOP.

Get off the computer. Go have a drink with your friends. Go out to dinner with your boyfriend. But for the love of all that is holy, leave the Pearson Vue employees alone and STOP!

Monkey--As hard as it is for new grad RNs to get jobs...perhaps we should all get to utilize our mental health clinicals and get jobs at testing centers to take care of test takers who get responses on the spot. Very cool idea! :-)

Seriously though, in this arena of instant gratification, are these new nurses going to stand around watching serial labs and griping because someone's K levels don't rise within 10 minutes? Geeze!

Flyersfan--I can't stop either! Best entertainment all week.

However it is a little bit sad to realize that our great profession seems to have an influx of complainers, entitled spoiled brats and people that are not quite intelligent enough to realize that tricks are for magic shows and real life just doesn't work that way. :-(

Krystal,

Best of luck to you! The trick does not work anymore, everyone gets the credit card page.

Does MN participate in quick results? If so, you will be able to get results tomorrow, ut in the meantime keep checking your BON website, some of them update faster than quick results.

The number and type of questions doesn't really matter, people pass and fail at 75 questions.

I took my test in Alabama. After 24/48 hours in Alabama you can go onto the BON website and try license look up by entering your name. If you passed, it'll show that you're active with a license number. I took my test on August 25th at 8AM and when I checked the next morning I was already issued a license!

Ya, I am a nervous reck. I truly think I failed but I hope I passed. Thank you for the luck, I need it.

Krystal, we ALL feel that way. I have not spoken to one nurse anywhere that didn't walk out of there feeling like they failed. Over 90% pass!

Really, the first time NCLEX pass rate is over 90%? I guess I've been reading these boards too long, because I thought it must run around 50%. I suddenly became so much less worried. (And since I haven't even started school yet, that's a relief!) :p

I'm also thinking that those who would like to call their BON and/or Pearson Vue to complain, I say "go for it"!! Absolutely, let them know you think it's B.S., and that you won't stand for this treatment.

Then be sure and give them your name.

And if you get licensed after that, remember when you get your first job, to call the facility where you have done your drug test and your background check every 10 minutes demanding results. Be sure to come back here to let us know how that "trick" worked out!
