You worked so hard to get in nursing school. Yes, studying and clinicals are challenging, but aren't you proud to be able to wear your nursing scrubs that signal to everyone that you are a part of the nursing profession. How did you feel the first time you put on your scrubs and looked at your self in the mirror?
I'm not going to lie, I await the day to gallivant in daily errands in my scrubs. Though now after giving more thought sanitary wise I see now that I shall disabuse this dream. Though proud of the scrubs I am, yup yup.
I work in retail. Anytime I see a gal walk by wearing scrubs, I'm like "YOU'RE A NURSE!!"
Although, I've been made to understand other hospital personnel wear scrubs.
I don't like wearing my scrubs in public mainly because I don't feel like being bombarded with questions by strangers. I don't care if 5-year old Timmy has recurrent nose bleeds. If you ask me for my opinion, I'm going to tell you he probably has a brain tumor. Not really, I'm not that big of a douchebag, but seriously people, you have PCPs for a reason.
I hate scrubs. Wish nurses wore something a little more dignified that what's essentially badly constructed pajamas. Outside of work I wear vintage clothing, dresses and skirts. Wish I didn't feel like I was wearing an adult onesie at work. They're hot, uncomfortable, unflattering, baggy, boring and crude. We do such important work; I wish we wore something a *little* more elegant. The only ones I like are by Koi, they seem to be the softest and least offensively awkward.
Whaaaaaaat?! Try Greys anatomy or some of the dickies flex scrubs. They have tailored fits and aren't shapeless or baggy at all!

I live for the day that I can change from scrubs at work before going home. The best would be to be able to shower before going home as well! My hospital shoes have never seen the inside of my house since they have been christened by the hospital floor, and I literally walk from my door to the washing machine where I throw my scrubs in and then to the shower. Do not pass go and do not collect 200.00
It completely skeeves me out to see people grocery shopping in scrubs Probably because I am a bit of a germaphobe...could you tell?
The first time I got to wear the "coveted" uniform, I was thrilled! Now? I'll be happy to burn all these scrubs when I'm done in May! They're embroidered with our school's name & logo so I can't wear them elsewhere and our school just changed the color of our uniforms, so I can't donate them to our SNA for resale. Yes, a good, old-fashioned scrub burning will commence after the pinning ceremony :)
I'm a bit of a clean freak. So I loved working in the OR with provided scrubs that I threw in the laundry everyday after the work day and kept my danskos in the locker. Now that I do home visiting (no scrubs) I still strip as soon as I walk in the door and put all my clothes in the dryer as soon as I walk in. Call me crazy, but you can bring anything home and I'm just extra cautious. Or as my boyfriend calls me...crazy :)
I stared in horror at myself in the mirror at the scrub shop. White was required. And lets face it. White pants aren't flattering on any but the slenderest. It took 8 tries to find a pair that wasn't completely hideous. Tops were another experience. I am so glad the shopping is finished, and now the classes and clinicals can commence!

I have heard of people doing this. There is really no reason to wash scrubs right after work. Plus I can't imagine what your water bill must be
