  1. NY BON Application Status Wait Times

Just wondering if anyone knows the average processing time for a license transfer from another state/country? I applied to have mine transferred about 4 months ago or so. I sent an email inquiry for my application status a month ago and haven't hear...
  2. Hi all, I was a nurse in Canada for over 10 years. From NY originally, but did my schooling in Canada for my LPN and moved back to the states last year. It's been over a year since I applied for my license transfer. In Canada, the tests w...
  3. Canadian LPN to possible US ADN?

Hi there! I'm an LPN in Canada and we are relocating to NY state. I'm originally from NY so I have dual citizenship so that's not really an issue. I've been an LPN in acute care medicine for 11 years and have received additional on site hospit...
  4. Canadian LPN to possible US ADN?

When I emailed NY board of nursing they said that they will evaluate for either RN or lpn and will let me know which courses I'm missing if I want RN. It doesn't seem likely to be honest from what I hear.
  5. NY BON Application Status Wait Times

Yeah, so I applied in December and apparently they never got my form from my Canadian nursing school that they were supposed to send in. I didn't know this obviously and was just being patient because they told me it could take up to a year for inter...
  6. Refused by CGFNS but qualification accepted by NYBON

I’m wonder if mine would be recognized as RN. My diploma says practical nursing, but my schooling was 2.5 years compared to the very short program nys has.
  7. Do you NEED to use CGFNS?

I'm a US citizen, dual citizenship with Canada and have recently moved back to NY state where I'm originally from. I'm in NY state and this is what the site says. Some people have told me not to bother with CGFNS as they spent SO much money a...
  8. Refused by CGFNS but qualification accepted by NYBON

I'm from canada, but dual citizenship and from NY originally and am back here now. I was wondering the same as my education was much longer and more thorough than the LPN education in NY. Honestly, I was hoping I would qualify as an associates RN a...
  9. NY State License wait times

Hi there, Not sure if anyone has any input, but I've been told by NYSED that it is currently taking average 1 year for a out of state/country license to be evaluated, which is insane to me. I have 11 years of acute care experience and I'...
  10. I've moved from Canada to NY and the wait times for evaluation are incredibly long. I've heard lots of issues with CGFNS and some people told me not to bother with it and with the cost. The other option is having the nursing school send over your c...

  12. NY State License wait times

that's so ridiculous to me. I'm applying from a Canadian license, but can you apply to another state and then apply to transfer the license to NY?
  13. Canadian LPN moving to NY

Hi there! I'm a us citizen from NY and completed my post secondary in Canada. The NY board is telling me its average one year wait time for internationally educated nurses. I'm just confused, is it better to do my credentials through CGFNS or ...

  15. Canadian nurse moved back to NY state.

Hi there! So I’m originally from NY state, moved to Canada at 17 and now 17 years later I’ve moved back. So immigration isn’t an issue for me as I require no visa. I’ve been a nurse in Canada for the last 11 years and want to transfer my license to s...
  16. Foreign Education Evaluation Services

Can I ask how you got the job without your credentials being evaluated first?
  17. Canadian LPN 10+ years experience moving to NY state

It was a practical nurse program, but I received a 2 year nursing diploma, not a certificate. And everything listed there under RN scope, I can do as an LPN here and have received the additional training. It’s unfortunate.
  18. Hi! So I've been an LPN in Canada for over 10 years now and my scope is fairly advanced here compared to LPN scope in NY state, which kind of sucks. Given my program was 2 years, I was hoping I could potentially be evaluated for an RN license. I kno...
  19. Canadian LPN 10+ years experience moving to NY state

I’m actually a U.S. citizen so the visa screen I won’t need. you’re right. I find that most programs for LPN in the states are fairly short. In Alberta it was 2 years plus clinicals of course. Alberta LPN scope is practically the equivalent...
  20. Canada LPN to NY LPN/RN

Hey everyone! I’m relocating back to NY state after about 17 years in Canada. I obtained my 2 year diploma in Canada along with additional education that authorizes me to do most other things LPN’s weren’t originally allowed to do such as blood trans...

I’m hoping someone can help me. I was on mat leave at the start of Covid. I came back around 18 months since it started. I’m currently casual/per diem so I pick up when I can. Here’s my back story. Both of my babies were NICU babies. Neither was prem...
  23. Canadian LPN to possible US ADN?

Oh, 100%! I just mean they’ve literally changed our scope and skill set to match an RN. Just paid way less LOL Thank you so much for your help!!
  24. Canadian LPN to possible US ADN?

Thanks for your reply! Do you mean a couple courses? I’ve heard of some people being able to go from LPN to RN because of the length of education and coursework being the same as an associates RN.
