CGFNS vs license verification by foreign nursing school? Which is better?

I've moved from Canada to NY and the wait times for evaluation are incredibly long.  I've heard lots of issues with CGFNS and some people told me not to bother with it and with the cost.  The other option is having the nursing school send over your credentials/transcript to the board of nursing.  Anyone do this?
