The News earlier tonight shared that Hope Hicks became ill Wednesday night, and tested today and COVID-19 positive --per President Trump's confirmed tweet tonight. A few hours later, he confirmed the First Lady and he tested positive and are now in quarantine.

The topic is the secret service not waiters or housekeepers. I'm guessing that the secret service are put through a specialized military police like training. Even cooks in the military have go through a bit of the "marine training" no one is exempt. However the housekeeper nor the waiter drove Trump. It is the Secret Service. Do you honestly believe that no other president has put their secret service in any danger just to do a photo op?
Their are countless books from secret service that say some president's ask and some just do. A president doesn't have to ask, one may ask out of courtesy. I don't know, it is only speculation on my part. It is also speculation on your part that he didn't. Also the head of secret service detail also went along the ride, what does that you?
Granted you can say it was a stupid move. Fine, I seen a lot of stupid moves in the service. Like I mentioned earlier the Obama administration was plagued by Secret Service doing stupid things. It just my opinion, that Trump likely has a chummy (I want to be one of the guys) attitude around his secret service. You can take it negatively or positively, their job is to go with that president's flow. When another one is in, they will do the same.

So you think that presidents only have their secret service around when at fancy diplomatic dinners or walking through a crowd while looking like MIB?
Yeah I am sure that combat generals see the equivalence of a mine zone and covid.

What does that you? Did you mean to ask what that tells us?
I haven’t fact-checked your claim that the head of the detail volunteered but if true, I’ll tell you what it tells me. I haven’t always been a nurse. This is something I would have volunteered for as a leader if I didn’t want to endanger my men for the sake of an asinine assignment, if I found myself in a situation where I couldn’t turn down said asinine assignment.

Absolutely nothing I wrote ought to lead you to the conclusion that I believe the Secret Service are only around for dinners and crowds. Your reply to me doesn’t make any sense.
What do you mean that combat Generals see the equivalence of ”mine zone and covid”? How does that tie in with Trump having the Secret Service drive him around the hospital so that he could give his fans the thumbs up? I’m genuinely confused.

Honestly, I think you missed the point I was trying to make. I never claimed they were robots and I don’t think anyone else in this thread has either?
The secret service can also tell their assignment and that includes the president no. I believe that many here have the false impression that the president tells the secret service and they do, not the other way around. I'm sure that Trump and other presidents have been declined request because of risk concerns. Considering that they had on N95s maybe a doctor said sure with a N95 on after consulting one. As I said earlier since the head of detail went to, he was likely buddy with Trump ( I could be wrong). As for the other one who knows. Many may despise Trump, but I'm thinking they went willingly.

No. The topic is ALL of the staff around him that his irresponsible acts are putting in danger. And even if you attempt to minimize his actions by trying to limit the discussion to just the car ride, there was still a non SS driver in the car.
any way you try to spin this, Trump put civilian employees in danger for a joy ride.

False equivalencies aren’t helping your argument.
unless you’re asserting that Obama ordered the SS to do those stupid things for his enjoyment, bringing this up is nothing more than a red herring.
As you craft your arguments, also perhaps keep in mind that the current president is one that large swathes swathes of military leadership has stopped politically supporting because of acts like this (and more)

Wow.
another false equivalence.
their requests are declined when the SS cannot make the situation safe *for the President*.
The SS are pretty much never put into the position where the president is the one putting THEM in danger for his amusement.
I’m betting they don’t even have a protocol for that kind of scenario. I’m also betting that they will be coming up with a protocol for that kind of scenario over the next several months.
