President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

You should go, it's a pretty good. Did you see the link I did re Sinema and Manchin taking money from ExxonMobil?

Ducking--- my Dad had Exxon Mobil stock, did well with it. Gas stations we preferred to use while traveling + at home; until Shell offered me .05 cents off a gallon and few pennies cheaper.  Will check out links later today.

Seriously people, Texas representatives fleeing the state to prevent illegal laws?

Can anyone step outside of being an American and try to see what the rest of the industrialized world is seeing? Just imagine if Germany or the UK's news is filled with this sort of occurrences, what would we think about them?

Jesus, not even Russia or China does this stuff! Other stuff, but not so blatantly. This is what Venezuela and Nicaragua and Argentina in the old days did!

This evangelical nonsense has to stop! This is third world ***! What is going wrong with republicans? I really see a secession coming and frankly I will welcome it! How do you forgive people supporting what happened the last four years and an insurrection to booth!

I can't ever imagine being able to have a relationship with anyone who liked Trump and worse voted for him again. I'm a cautious person to begin with and avoid bad people like the plague. Those choices are just too far for me!

Germany and the UK aren't immune from far right nonsense.  Far-right crimes hit record levels in Germany, and the UK had to ban their 5th Neo-Nazi group lately...fifth.  There are plenty of outliers that embarrass politics in Europe.

The British Parliament has had many moments of disorder.

That being said, I don't remember them actually fighting lately over the right to vote or having any widespread mistrust in the voting system, that it's rigged or needs to be made more fair or that any losers in elections actually won.

Everyone has a right to be complicated and make their own choices, but surely those choices should be sensible and logical. If a person chooses frequently to abuse drugs, etoh, rob people and be a burden, we view them negatively because of their choices. If someone chooses to follow Hitler or white supremacy or someone who is as bombastic or clearly flawed as Trump who repeatedly chooses the criminal options, lies, steals, rapes, abuses, what does that say about their choices and ongoing future decisions? It's not like he's a success at anything! Not even business. He is in debt or on the verge of bankruptcy continually. I would bet that if he liquidated his assets, he would be bankrupt again. And how do people get taken in by someone so obvious? Suppose it was someone with just a little skill, republicans would actually die for him and I can't trust anyone like that! It's just too dangerous!

Their perspective embraces all the things we are taught to avoid. They are antivaxxers, pro life, against women, minorities, LGBTQ etc, but for hypocrisy, voter suppression and insane conspiracy theories and radical religions. I would really like to know how do you trust someone like that and not be worried that they are going to stab you in the back and with their levels of hypocrisy and tolerance for crime, wouldn't even blink!

What laws, specifically, are you objecting to?

The ones you are thinking about!

You don't think that every person who is eligible to vote should be given every opportunity to do so?

Yes, and they do.

So, which laws specifically are you opposed to?

Do you know how to use Google to find out any facts?  Texas voting bills: What to know about the latest legislation | The Texas Tribune.  I cannot get this to link here so I hope you know how to Google.  They want to outlaw forms of voting that are perfectly safe.

I've got a better idea.  Rather than coming here and posting an obvious inflammatory post like this.

Why not post what you specifically object to,  with a link to the source where you found the information.  Knowing what this would better allow someone to engage you in the discussion.  However, I get the distinct impression that that is not your goal.

And yes, I know, and am sure that @Beerman does as well, how to use "Google to find out any facts [sic]."

I'm well informed of the Texas voting bill.  More then you I suspect.  I don't object to it.  I'm trying to have a discussion about what others find so objectionable.
