Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

In your opinion...but your opinion has been proven to be woefully wrong on so many previous occasions...LOL
You don't have anything to say about the constitutional right to assemble and protest?

Suddenly when BLM protests started they have gotten concerned about protests and protestors are the enemy and all are being lumped into the category of rioters. The BLM protests in Florida were largely uneventful, most arrests had their charges dropped, so it's really just a fear-based response and I think the aim was to suppress protests in the first place, particularly BLM protests, not out of concern for safety. Most of what he mentioned in his roll out happened elsewhere such as the notion that Portland, Seattle and New York "burned to the ground last Summer" (and don't be stupid and vote like they did up there) and the destruction of confederate monuments that happened elsewhere.
I don't like the idea that if a protest turns violent, innocent people could get charged, and individual municipalities are held responsible.
It sounds like your main issue is more of the"why" the new law more then what it really is
I would agree that innocent people at a protest that turns violent shouldn't be charged. Practically speaking, in a violent protest situation you would hope the peaceful people are probably leaving and not the focus of law enforcement's attention.

It's unfortunate that the average republican Trump voter will never know what's really in the legislation, they will only know what the propagandists and liars tell them.
police were much more likely to respond aggressively to protests led by Black Americans
Business Insider
QuoteIn an analysis of more than 15,000 protest events that took place in the US between 1960 and 1990, we find that in most (but not all) years, protests involving African Americans were much more likely than those involving whites to draw the presence of the police and forceful action all else equal, including protesters' use of threatening behaviors, such as throwing objects, using weapons, and damaging property.

Exactly, it's a more of the why and it has some undertones of fear based racism at worst (he cited the Chauvin trial), or at best continues the narrative to his base that protestors are out to burn down your city and should be feared. Also of note is that while mentioned the Chauvin trial (meaning BLM) no Republican mentioned the Capitol riots, murders, and destruction of property there "burning the city to the ground" but highlighted Democrat run cities and the BLM protests of last Summer. But I didn't listen to his speech.
I agree that when protests turn violent the peaceful ones are not really arrested. But I read a stat in Orlando during their Summer protests over 80% of charges were dropped, meaning innocent people were arrested or the authorities weren't interested in pursuing the arrests, so it happens. Can't remember the source.
Ultimately I don't condone violence and the issue really isn't a strong objection from me. On the other hand every June I celebrate the violent protest that is the Stonewall Riots. So there's that.
DeSantis was able to get teachers a raise in this year's budget (with federal funds I might add) so I don't disapprove of everything he does like I said.

I guess it comes down to semantics. What some call "infrastructure" others calls "liberal wish list", and so it goes.
Dictionary defines it as "the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise."
It might include "Highways, Streets, and Roads. ...
Bridges.
Mass Transit, Airports, and Airways. ...
Water Supply and Resources. ...
Waste Management and Waste Water Management. ...
Power Generation and Transmission. ...
Telecommunications. ...
Hazardous Waste Removal and Storage."
So saying that his bill only includes a small percentage of actual spending on infrastructure doesn't quite ring true, as there are lot of things on the periphery and he defines this to include models that help with climate change which would fall under "power generation and transmission".

By this definition, health care, including in home care to protect elderly and vulnerable could be considered infrastructure. Also, childcare and early childhood learning is needed for the operation of society.

Haha...just messin with you.
I'm curious....what is it about DeSantis' anti riot stance you don't like?
I can't find any riots except one on May 30 in Jacksonville in the lists of protest activity in Fla. so I don't know why DeSantis thought that he needed a bill that would protect people from liability when they hit a "rioter" with their car. Trump would never run for governor in Florida but Ivanka might! How would you feel about her?
Now here's one thing I agree that Trump may have gotten right. Blacklisting Chinese companies, except he did it for retaliation and having depleted the foreign office aside from the fact that he had alienated most of the western world, it was a pitiful gesture! He was laughed at and so was America's people because when people think you are a buffoon, they immediately ascribe your decisions to buffoonery. Example Boris Johnson. He cultivated his boorish behaviors and no one takes him seriously anymore.
China needs to be isolated by everyone in the Western world and Trump especially with his relationship with Modi in India pre covid, should have invested heavily in making India the alternative China. They have everything going for them. A cheap educated willing workforce in a democracy. Incentivize companies to transfer their manufacturing and businesses to India and then slam the door on China. This is a country that has put satellites into space with their own technology. They have a nuclear bomb and programme.
That would have been a legacy, but simple minds generate simple goals and possibilities.
China is complicated. They are the 2nd largest economy, have the largest Navy, were the only country in the world that did not go into recession in 2020, and to complicate it further they are our 3rd largest trading partner in the world and that means hundreds of billions. To complicate it further 1 trillion of our debt is owed to China. We can't just "shut the door on China".
I think generations prior when China went more capitalistic and we only saw dollars we not only opened the door but removed it forever.
We have to find a way to influence China and coexist with them and so far with their trillion dollar economy it might be better to keep some sort of relationship with them.
Even if a policy were to shut them out and close the door that would take years.
The Biden presidency began in the most extraordinary circumstance, 2 weeks post Jan. 6th Capital riot. Promises mostly kept or in progress per this article. Gun safety big miss so far.
