President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Dude, you are supporting someone who did what Lindbergh did 2nd world War. You probably don't know this because of the miniscule amount of history taught in this country. Charles Lindbergh used the same tactics that Trump did (Trump of course is ignorant about what he did), Lindbergh was a Nazi supporter and he used to state that the British and American were different races from Jewish people and instigated deportation of Jewish people because they were trying to drag America into the 2nd World War. He even implied that the British were a different race from Americans to isolate America and allow Germany to continue their war mongering.

Do you know how effective it is when a prominent person gives voice to a sentiment? They give it oxygen, allow others to think the same and give them permission to hate and do unspeakable crimes against them.

Trump used the same against Hispanics, Jews, Asians, gay people, Black people, Liberal and Democrats. He allowed a disgruntled, ignorant faction to believe that an election was stolen, that everyone else was responsible for something he did, giving credence to Alternative Facts and allowing possibly hundreds of thousands of Americans to die!

That's what voter ID laws remind me of. Nazi Germany! Is that what you want?

Yep.  That's what he wants.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

Yearly Jim helped Brian, Joe and Admin team set up the allnurses booth @ AACN's NTI conference. He tolerated with a smile the 25+hrs/week I spent moderating this site along with FT  position; while he was glued to his TV shows and weekend life resolved around when the Philadelphia EAGLES were playing and game broadcast.

My husband was diagnosed with Pulmonary HTN + R  heart failure in 2016, Oxygen dependent  8 liters last 1 1/2yrs + needed Trilogy vent to leave home as ONE O2 tank would only last  45 min.

Feb. 2018 had just helped hubby get settled in car on way to Cardiologist office. glaced over - not breathing.  Oldest son hadn't left for work, layed on horn and resuscitated him in driveway.  Aug. 2018, another respiratory arrest this time in bathroom.  Numerous episodes profound hypoxia resolved with two O2 tanks  wide open.   So I stopped working June 2018 to care for him.   Thankfully, he agreed to my agency's Palliative care program and DNR by January 2020.   He passed peacefully at home April 1st, 2020 shortly after Covid hit.

This January, I started consulting for a startup home care agency developing a Quality Mgmt program,  performing policy revisions to meet state home care regs,  insurance audits and corrective action plans  -mostly work @ home.   So won't be hanging out in this forum as much.

I am so sorry to hear of this tragic event in your life, Karen. I realize it will take some time for you to heal, but know over time you will become stronger. I am glad your son became a chef. I remember you telling me he was in chef school when you visited me. You have my complete condolences.

Love,

Fran

Do you realize how illogical you are blaming A for situation B, as if situation B has ONLY 1 cause?  Any problem that has only one cause can be tackled easily.  Mass immigration is a world wide problem.  Do you think only presidential elections caused the problems?  Trump admires dictators - Bolsonaro, Maduro and Trump - The Three Desperados. More than 4 million people have left Venezuela.  He did nothing to create jobs in the southern hemisphere to help people stay in place.  Do I actually believe that one single American president can solve the bad economies of other countries?  And in a single term?  That's as ridiculous as believing a Biden administration can alleviate this humanitarian disaster in 4 years.

This is because President Trump said from the beginning of his presidency, "America First."

Words do not equal actions. He put himself and those who catered to him first, and the heck with the rest of us.

Look at the quality of his news cources.  The NY Post and now this website:

The credibility checker NewsGuard assessed that The Daily Wire "severely violates basic standards of credibility and transparency", "often misstates facts to advance partisan opinion" and "frequently publishes false and misleading information, particularly in stories about abortion".

The Daily Wire - Wikipedia

How lazy.

It's pretty common here, though.  Instead of bashing the website because it slants a certain way, why don't you tell me what in any particular article you disagree with,  and why?

What are NewsGuards qualifications to judge anything?

Just about any source we all use here has a bias.  That doesn't mean everything they report us wrong.

I also posted three Axios articles on the crisis at the border.

A dog turd sandwiched with actual food doesn't make the dog turd actual food.  Is someone arguing that bias doesn't exist everywhere? What are the NYPost's qualifications to be called serious journalism?

I actually use to enjoy Ben Shapiro's columns in Newsweek, and I'll freely admit I used to visit Breitbart when he ran it, I like reading well reasoned views even if I don't agree with them.  But he and the Daily Wire have gone full looney-tabloid at this point.  Most of his videos I come across are from far-right conspiracy theorist friends on facebook who post them mixed in with QAnon stuff.

I provided you with a lengthy explanation of what was wrong with the article, it was poor journalism in a number of ways; it failed to provide fairly easy to find context and it pushed a position not supported by it's content.  You had argued in presenting the DailyWire article that Biden had decreased border security, which wasn't supported by the article, and the Axios articles only supported that people were travelling to the border, not that it was less secure now compared to before.

I admit that when I felt lucky when I found a copy of the NY Post on a train seat and would take it for something to read.  It was almost like Calgon, take me away commercial.  Short stories for the folks who can't follow more than 3 or 4 paragraphs before they move onto the next shiny thing.  Now they take themselves too seriously and have thrown away their only grace - headlines like Kadaffi's Daffy!  Headless Body In Topless Bar!  Cuomo Beats Weiner, Then Goes Limp!  A guilty pleasure and nothing more.
