Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

What does presence lend to solving an issue? Many of the border areas are in red states and im pretty sure Biden would be met by “Let’s Go Brandon”. How does that help?
does the premier of Canada strut around like a peacock?
Yes. The prim minister does strut around like a peacock! Also known for black face or black entire body with a banana in his crotch dancing a calypso. Does that answer your question? However he only speaks to media that his government pays.
However he addressed his nation although its mostly virtue signaling and platitudes....

Sounds like CNN viewers. They talk about Trump the most.

On one side is those that will say that live saving is worth it for the greater good on the other side are people saying that Australia needs to be invaded as they are oppressing freedom even though in many regions they had no covid and no loss of live, or very little.
Really it gets down to the freedom to move about freely, the freedom to make a living, the freedom to make our own choices and not be forced into lockdown.
I had no say so in the matter but understood when Florida locked down and didn't protest or feel my rights were infringed upon. When the Delta Variant surged even worse than 2020 here I also had no say so in remaining fully open. But as a vaccinated person I would have been angry to go into lockdown again and like I said I rather enjoyed my freedom, but I would have understood. But the cost was immense, especially to the unvaccinated.
The true lockdown periods were short. Most nurses went to work. We were able to shop for necessities. It didn't last long in the scheme of things and certainly didn't warrant all the violence and stupidity in the name of "freedom." It just proved how many mentally unstable people we have in our society. The actual brief lockdown was unpleasant but needed at the time since we were at the bottom of the learning curve on treating covid patients. I never felt as if the bogeyman was taking my lifestyle away. But I am a self-actualized adult and can amuse myself for a few months:)

Believe me, they possess an extreme deficit in many areas incl the political arena!

Tell people who lost their jobs or business that the lockdowns we're "unpleasant".

Actually, the President and WH spokesperson claim that he has visited the border.
Which we all know, is a lie.

Tell the families of those who died, or the folks needing lung transplants or otherwise dealing with “long Covid” that their lives are worth less than a businessman’s profit margin.

And there is nothing wrong with a middle of the road policy either. After the initial SAH orders, things did open up but with precautions. We were able to eat out, go to movies, have elective sxs, but with precautions. Last Sunday's lede in the local paper here was the 8 and 9 hour waits for the ER now (43 bays) and that Door Dash will now deliver while you wait in line. We have enough ER nurses, but not enough nurses on the floor to accomodate the Covid patients AND the ER admissions. This is probably due to schools re-opening and everything running full blast during the tourist season.

Same thing happened here in Florida during the recent surge. It wasn't unusual for patients to wait in the ER 24 hours or longer for a bed on the floor, or patients to wait six to eight hours in the ER before being seen by an ER doctor or PA. It's better now as our surge has passed. Hope things get better where you are.
We had about a two month lockdown when covid first hit and then all hell broke loose when restrictions were lifted, but this last surge was even worse than that.
It always comes down to what's more important, someone's right to make a living and people to move about freely, or public health. There is no denying that choosing the former has resulted in many illnesses, hospitals being stressed and death. You can't deny that. The high cost of low vaccination rates and fully open status despite a relatively low death rate has been high.
But we have a way out, or a way to make it better with the vaccine and people didn't take it. They want the right to "take their chances with covid". So be it.
The point is moot as all states are in an "fully open" status without any talks of lockdown. Why harp on the past and why focus on what another country like Australia is doing? It's their business. Frankly, having over five lockdowns and the longest lockdown in the history of the world, if I lived in Melbourne, I would go nuts and I am a self-actualized adult. But I live in Florida and I did fine for the two months we locked down in 2020.
Europe is undergoing yet another surge right now as cases are up everywhere with the UK particularly being stressed and in very low vaccinated country of Romania it's a disaster.
It's not going anywhere. That is it a political issue and not a medical one is very disappointing to me.

Has nothing to do with what I said. Profit margins did suffer. But more than that, many lost jobs and long-time businesses. To say they went through a little bit of "unpleasant" times is discounting their experience.

No, you missed the point.
The popular opinion here is that it's a waste of time to go down there for a "photo op". He and Harris have time to visit CA for campaign visits, of course. But anyway....
The administration isn't even saying that. They actually would be smarter to take your advice and say why they don't plan to visit.
But, no. Biden said he went there, and he knows it well. And by that he apparently means a 2008 visit in which he happened to land in a border city to visit a city well north of the border.
