Hello. I will have a Baby on November and I am in the process of getting my ADN. would it be possible to study nursing and have a baby? how difficult would that be? To all the mommas here who went to a nursing school, how did you manage? did you have a hard time studying and passing? in my situation, i have no family here to look after my child and my husband is working 12hours a day. I am pretty sure the the baby sitter will cost me a lot of money too. Thank you for reading.

Well, I am sort of in the same boat as you, but my daughter will turn one in December. I plan on going back to school in Spring 2010 to start on my pre-reqs for nursing school. I have been a stay at home mommy this whole time, and we just moved. My husband will be working 12hr/7days, and anyone who lives close by works fulltime jobs. I am really eager to start going back to school again and will be willing to do anything to succeed, but on another note, I am really nervous about going to school and juggling fulltime mommyhood. I know my husband will try to help out all he can, but I know his day will be hectic too. I will probably have to look into childcare for when I have my classes, but childcare these days are an arm and a leg. I just think if you really want this, and I am sure you do or you wouldn't waste your time on these threads, you can do this and succeed! Maybe we can give eachother support in the future when in school. We will do great! :yeah::up:

I'm a mom of 4 little ones. Luckily for me when I'm going to be able to get into a program, my husband will be done with his apprenticeship. He has class x2 a week. I cannot imagine him being in school along side with me. it would prove to be too difficult. When I start the nursing program my youngest will be 3. Just in time for preschool. I'm taking it slow til then b/c even though I have family in town, I don't want to burden them with having to watch 4 young kids on a regular basis. My husband is very supportive of my decision to go back to school; he gives me time for my homework right now, which isn't too bad, but I know once the nursing program starts it's going to get very hectic. So just take your time, even if it takes you 3 years to complete your prereqs, it would give your little one enough time to be able to stay in a preschool while you're at nursing school. kwim?

Don't give up!!!!! good luck!

Yeah were on the same boat..we can do this! and in my part, I really wanted to be a nurse since then though I am a little bit nervous about going to a nursing school because I know it is not that easy and it is very time consuming but I will still do it. Now, I am a stay at home mom and i am not happy about it. I want to have my own career and I just want to succeed in life and have my child look up to me as a good role model..

lets keep in touch then. We can do this for our kids!

Thanks for the reply. well good luck to your studies. as for me, yep i need to take it one at a time. my option is to go to weekends and night classes. for the pre-reqs., I have heard that you can take it online. so i guess that would work for me. Good luck to us!!

I'm a full time mommy going back to school too. Just believe it can be done. Women are doing it all the time. I just started my prereqs this month. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old, so I've really got my hands full. Just try to do as many online prereqs as you can. I'm doing this entire semester at an online university then transfering to the local college in the spring. I'm going to take one online class and one online hybrid (half in class half online) and then one regular class. I'm looking around for childcare because my husband is deployed and I have NO help whatsoever. I just need to find a really awesome babysitter for 2 days a week or so. Now when I actually get to the program, I'm not sure how it's all going to work out. But I WILL make it work out because this is my dream. And it is obviously something you want for yourself, if it wasn't, you wouldn't be here right now. So I say, start small, take online classes, ease yourself into it. You WILL make it work if it's something you truly want.

I think you can do most online. I know a lot of people go to ccconline.com for some and some people go to excelsior online. Online the only downfall is that if you go to an online college the credits can get pretty expensive. For me, I got a scholarship that pays my tuition, and the online college I'm at the books are free for undergraduate studies. So I'm taking Public Speaking, Sociology, Psychology, Physiology, and American Government at the online college. Then in the Spring I'm gonna transfer to a local community college, and i'm taking English online, a hybrid Math class, and A&P1. Then Summer I'm taking A&P2, hybrid Math, and a Student Development class online...ect ect...just everything that I have a chance to take online, or even half online, I jump on it, because that's more time that I'm gonna have at home with my kids, and not paying a babysitter. How long it takes depends on how many classes you take at a time. I'm taking up to 3 at a time and I'm hoping to have all my prereqs done by Fall 2012.

OH it's CCConline.org ...not .com...sorry!!!

It believe it can be done. Im a single mom of two boys 5 and 1. My soon to be ex-husband left us at the begging of the year and I have no family around. I rely on babysitters when I can and friends that can help me out when they have the chance. I have taken most my pre-reqs this past summer and this fall. Im hoping to get into Nursing school by the Fall of 2010. I know it is going to be hard, but I think if you put your mind to something and work hard enough it can be done. I think it will be VERY rough at times, but just remember the ultimate goal. Good luck with everything!!
