A and P over 7 weeks during summer

It's not impossible. A&p is a challenging subject. Just know that you will need to buckle down and study hard.

Your A&p book should have a website that has crossword puzzles, flash cards, and quizzes. Be sure to use those. Always read ahead! Answer the questions at the end of each chapter. This helped me tremendously. The answers cover pretty much everything your professor wants you to know.

These tips helped me ace A&P!

I took a 5-week A&P I class last summer. It wasn't easy, especially since I work full-time, but I managed to get an A. If you have the ability to really push yourself and are self-disciplined, you should be ok. Good luck!

I'm not working now. I also haven't taken a class in about 3 years. Is the summer session too much? I have all the time in the world to study, but I'm not used to not having any free time. I have lots of doubts?

summer sessions are always tight, meaning that you have what is normally a 16 week course that is compacted into 8 weeks...

[that is the way it is at my school]...

you will definitely have to buckle down over the summer if you want to be successful, but just think, it's only for 7 weeks :)

i do feel your pain, i am taking pathophysiology this summer...it is going to be rough!

#1 tip: read and "review" or should i say pre review / preview ahead of time.#2 tip: focus on learning what the professor is focused on teaching. Do not focus on extraneous material until afterwards.#3 review review review the info u need to know many times.#4 flashcards, tho tedious, are a great asset. If u have no time to make them, practice closing your eyes and recalling the info you nerd, rather than passively reading.

Generally, there is a test every week. I am taking Chem in the summer and working full time.

You can do it! I did both A&P's together over a summer session. Just don't miss a class and study everyday effectively (flash cards and what not). Good luck, you have this.

No, not impossible. I'm taking Anatomy this summer (8 weeks - our school has Anatomy separate from Physiology). I have to re-take A&P since I took it 25 years ago and the credit no longer counts.

It's a LOT of memorization, so be prepared to study your patootie off :eek: I'd recommend getting some of the A&P coloring books that are available at any book store. They are SO helpful when trying to memorize. It helps you learn as you color each part.

Make sure you completely understand the difference between medial & lateral and know how to label it correctly when looking at a drawing from the front AND the back! You can get some trick questions when the drawing is a posterior view vs. an anterior view.

I bought Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies to refresh myself on A&P since it's been so long since I've taken the course. I found it to be VERY helpful. It explains things in a way that's mentally digestable :)

Not sure if your course will be this way, but our professor has already posted the syllabus online and the first week we're reviewing the Krebs cycle & cell biology. It's good to know this upfront, because I definitely needed to review this to refresh my memory. Then we move on to histology, systems, etc.

A normal semester at my school is 16 weeks, so my Anatomy class will be daily instead of twice a week. Can it be done? Yes...but it's gonna take twice the study time outside of school to keep up with the pace.

I would highly recommend researching the professors on RateMyProfessor.com before signing up for such a fast paced course. Having a great professor can make a huge difference in a short semester!
