If you are a nurse, or a future nurse, is your spouse/significant other in law enforcement?
Just curious to see if this is a legit pattern or if I've just been noticing it more lately.
I am a nurse with a law enforcement spouse.
OopsHeather I don't think it's just your area. I have hung out with really good cops and fireman and guys that are like what you describe. They have a rep as dogs a lot of times, but there are lots of dedicated family men.
And yes, a guy (or girl) who can fix things is gold.
You are exactly right. I did not want to offend anyone. Heck, my ex-husband cheated on me and he's in the HVAC field. He would just tell me somebody called and needed a furnace fixed late at night and he would be gone for hours. I know cheating happens everywhere, but I guess in this town with the cops and firefighters, it seems to be very prevalent. At least to the point that there is a well known rep around town. And it so happened I became very good friends with several of them and one pursued me very much. We are not friends anymore, lol.
My cousin and her husband are both firefighter/paramedics around the DC area. They have been for years. Her husband is a great family man. He is extremely dedicated to my cousin and their two kids. I'm not sure if they are in the same ladder unit, but it's for the same town. I'm also friends with two cops who are married in a different jurisdiction that one around here that has the reputation. He loves his wife and two kids. He is always spending time with her and the family when they are off together. I know for a fact in a million years he would never cheat. He is very in love with his wife.
I don't know what it is about this town. And yes, it is awesome to have someone who is handy around the house. And if they can't fix it, they know someone in the industry that can and won't charge an arm and a leg. When I had to have my basement remodeled from water damage last year, the first person I called was my ex. He gave me the names of good, honest, reliable guys to get the job done. And they knew not to screw me over because most of that business is by word-of-mouth.
Mine is a cop too but we started dating right out of high school before either of us even started our career training. Our poor children. My husband super protective and questions every new friend they have and does a background check and scopes out their house before they are allowed to visit them and I won't take them to the doctor unless they're dying (so they think but if it's only a virus...) and constantly preach on nutrition and handwashing so they complain a lot that they don't have normal parents. I tell them they are just lucky! Lol!

Ah, well, I know that some cops certainly do go bed-hopping. Even some of the ones whom you would never expect of it.
It is also why I said I'd never marry a doctor. At my first job, at an internationally known medical center, hooking up was only secondary to medical care, it seemed. It was the "free love" days, in the 70's. Of course, I was a naive 21 y.o., it was all I could do not to ACT shocked, even though inside me, my mouth was hanging open and my chin was on the floor. Talk about getting your eyes opened!
Cops and docs have lots of handy, legitimate sounding excuses for being 'out-of-pocket', due to the nature of the jobs they do.
