Ok guys, I have been a nurse since 2007 and since then I have gained about 50lbs.
Yes, I know I am not lying. It is very true. I used to fit in to xs scrubs. I work nights because it is convenient for my family and babysitting and my husbands schedule.
Tomorrow I start the dvd beachbody programs and hope for the best. It makes me sad that even at work people around me comment on how much weight I have gained. I can't fit into my clothes.
working nights I always find excuses to eat sweets or other bad things for weight.
Don't give up tasty taters, just the butter and salt!
Why in heaven's name would you give up butter?
Old 1970s science pushes high carb low fat, that is when we had the 2nd massive wave of obesity in the US. People were doing exactly what they were told and they got fatter than ever before in US history.
Current science, full fat/low carb. Move beyond science from 45 years ago.
We did not become a fat nation from eating dietary fat, we can eat a juicy steak and salad with full fat dressing. What got us fat was the dinner rolls, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, cookies, cake, brownies, Doritos, Cheetos, chips, candy, candy bars, etc.
Eat the butter, ditch the potato. Dietary fat keeps your joints lubricated, your hair and nails lubricated. It enables you to absorb fat soluble vitamins. It keeps you full longer. Dietary fat is needed to sustain life, sugar and carbs are not needed to sustain life.
Some of the worst products you can buy in the grocery store are low fat. Yogurt and salad dressings are good examples. Dietary fat flavors food, remove the flavor and nobody will buy your product so they have to replace the flavor with one of two options, sugar or a storm of chemicals. The dietary fat is *still* needed to sustain life. We do not need sugar. Check the labels between low/full fat Thousand Island and low/full fat yogurt, the sugar grams are much higher on low fat.
Buy the full fat.

This.
Ever since I started doing a low carb, high fat diet, I lost 3 pounds water weight in 1 week. That's all I could lose though (went from 109 to 106 so any more weight would have been unhealthy), but that kind of diet makes you shed water first, then you start to burn the fat. My mom lost 10 pounds in a couple weeks after I convinced her to try it.
I second (or 3rd, 4th, 5th) the no-white-carb diet as well. Along with booze, I'm down about 14 lb since the start of 2015, and I haven't changed my exercise program much. My husband is down about 23 lb., and he still drinks.
As I type this I'm eating a spinach salad with zucchini, full fat dressing, cheese, nuts and berries.

From my own personal experience. I've lost 10lbs from working as a nurse (4 months into working as a LVN). My meal consist of chicken breast, broccoli, and sweet potato. Even though it sounds extremely healthy it taste pretty darn good and for the price its dirt cheap. According to my fitbit I do about 18k steps a day. Then after work I just eat whatever I want.
