I just finshed my A&PII winter 06' semester. Grades were just posted a few minutes ago. I recieved a FAT D. I am so upset. I didn't take A&P I yet. My school doesn't teach A&P I in the winter, and also don't require that you take them in order. SO all semester I've struggled, but I didn't feel to bad because everyone in my class struggled. After every test my instructor would always state the class everage as beibg in the 60% range. He actually posted the grades outside of his office yesterday. Out of 100 students there were no A's, 3 B's, and the rest C's, D's, and F's. I feel like such a failure. All that I do is think about nursing school. I decided to drop my other classes that I registered for this summer, and re-registered for the same A&P II course with the same instructor. Ironically he's the only instructor teaching this course. I wanted to transfer to another school this fall. But I'm scared to send them my transcripts, which I planned to do this week because they'll see the big FAT D.What should I do? I feel so discouraged. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your school set you up for failure. I don't know how it is possible that you take 2 before 1. I would also try a different teacher and if that means going to a new school or waiting until the fall, that's what I'd do. I had an absolutely amazing teacher for A&P who explained things crystal clear. There is something wrong with the teaching style if not a single person got an A in the class. Your nursing career depends on it so I'd give it more thought and take the advice of everyone posting to you here!
Good luck the second time around though.
so basically that school just about guaranteed themselves double tuition from just about everyone that took A&P 2 out of sequence and failed because they will all have to take it again now. Nice of them isnt it? Take A&P 1 work hard and then A&P 2 won't be so bad and you will already have some knowledge to give you a leg up.
HI! I think you should go for it and take A&PI and II this summer. It will probably be stressful, but if you are dead-set on taking A&PII this summer still, take A&PI with it. I found A&PI to be harder than II. I just think while everything is still fresh in your memory, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!
i agree with all the previous posters: take a&p i first, not together with 2, and then take 2. i would have failed totally if i had taken them out of sequence - there was a lot i learned in 1 that made 2 much easier to learn (it was never easy, but certainly easier than taking them in reverse). there was a girl in my a&p ii class that was also taking ii before i (don't know how) and she dropped out before midterm time - there was too much information she was missing.
i think you'll do much, much better taking i first, then redoing ii. plus, since you've already taken ii, it will be that much easier when you take it again, you know? don't feel bad for not getting a higher grade - i think a lot of us would have done the same!
You might be ok with A&P II first since you've already taken it once. Before the class starts, start studying the A&P I chapters on things like cell structure, muscle physiology, etc. Those are going to be very important to you in A&P II. For example, to understand the sodium, calcium, potassium flows, action potential, etc, taking place in the heart contraction, you'll need to know your muscle physiology that's taught in A&P I.. and that's just one quick example.
Good luck and study your foundation stuff first.

You should find a college that offers A&P I and take that class first then take A&P II, but DO NOT take them both at the same time. Taking A&P I helped me immensely for A&P II, especially with the slides because I already had some background knowlege. You could still take both classes in the summer, but not both at the same time. Just make sure that you have enough time for study time, otherwise you will end up having another bad experience. Good luck!
Oh goodnes this isn't to sound rude but you got a D in A&P2 why in the world would you want to take them both together?! You might end up with even worse grades. These are not easy classes!
You reallly need to take A&P1 first and then take 2nd.
Getting into nursing school should be what drives you, making a D is not a good thing at all so don't make it worse by taking them both together over the summer. If I were you I would not take either 1 or 2 over the summer, but something easier and then take A&P1 in the Fall so you can get a good grade which in turn will get you a better grade for A&P2.
I'm just saying this because soooo many students at my school flat didn't get in the nursing program because they had a single D or a C on their transcript and you don't want that to be you.
But the grade breakdown in your class sounds about normal for Anatomy and Physio (our first test average was a 57%). I was one of the very few that made A's in both classes, most people either drop or barely pass the class.
WOW!! First I am really sorry your school allowed you to take II before I, that is kinda crazy... But thinking about it, II does build on I BUT you can still understand what is happening and suffer through. If you feel more confident by re-taking II before I, do it... Do NOT take both together, I had a very stressful time taking med term, chem, and A&P I the same quarter... but it can be done. Work on study habits when you re-take the class... sometimes when professors say you will need 2 hours study time a day they MEAN it!! :) Having a good study group/partner can help before test time also. Best of luck... you can do it!

Take AP1 first. Usually the first couple of chapters in it lay the groundwork of everything else you will learn for both classes. For example, in my book, the first 4 chapters are: the Human Body - and orientation, Chemistry Comes Alive, Cells - the Living Units, and tissue - the living fabric. In AP1 we cover chapters 1-14 and AP2 will cover the rest of the book. Everything that we're covering in these later chapters builds on what was learned in the first few chapters.
Also, I think it would be good to give yourself some space between your AP2 experiences. Please don't try to take them both at the same time! You want to have a chance to completely take in all this material so you can do your best!
