Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Published

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

I'm with you on that one. I don't even know where to begin! Lol 😂

Whoa!! I was just e mailed a full semester schedule, this is going to be crazy! I am definitely feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. I knew it was coming, but I did not know it was gonna be like this. I can't wait for my 2 week break between work and school. I hope you guys and gals are enjoying the rest of your Summer!

Don't let that get to you, just take it one day at a time and remember we're all in this together!

I don't get reading lists/assignments until the first week of August. Boooo. But upon a recommendation from AN I just ordered Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Easy to try and get a head start.

Still mainly trying to enjoy the summer with my kids, beach trips, BBQ, Dorney Park, etc. Even if I had to start school tomorrow, I'd say I've had a pretty awesome summer

I found most of my books on amazon too! Except for one we have to purchase through the school as part of our "technology bundle". I hear my school used to bundle ALL of the books and you bought one giant $1200 box of books for the whole program. This is the first semester that they've changed it, to finally allow for us to buy used textbooks. I got mine all new or like-new and saved a couple of hundred bucks so I'm very excited about that!

We had a bundle like that as well. I received my Foundation of nursing book with my pharmacology book and a med/surg book as well as a nursing diagnosis handbook. I would have had no idea I need all of those. I though I was just picking up my foundation of nursing book until the guy at the school bookstore handed me a box heavier then my 3 year old and asked if i needed help getting it to my car. LOL!!!

I have taken a week off in August to spend with my kids going to the beach and having fun. I try to do so much with them on the weekends now so that they don't feel so left out. We went to the Philly Zoo so far, cant wait to take them to Dorney Park. Which school are you going to if you don't mind me asking.

They've changed mine TO a bundle instead of individual books, but they said they got a discount with the publisher so our bundle is now only $800 with the majority if not all the books for the entire program. So for being new I don't think that's bad at all. They've warned us at orientation to bring something or someone to help carry our stuff to the car, lol. I'm bringing an empty stroller while the kids are at day care!

Hi everyone! I am starting the program in January. I have all the same deadlines as the fall starts so I am totally ready!! I have paperwork all done and turned in, my uniform, shoes, stethoscope, bp cuff, I think everything! Now I just have to wait. I got all my books from someone on CL who just graduated, for only $300. I went on my school's bookstore website and it would have been over $1000 for the first semester, 2000 if I also bought all of the "recommended" books. Yikes! We have to wear white  This fall I'm going to finish up my last prereq for a BS so I can do a bridge after RN.
