What I've Learned In Nursing School So Far
Oh yea! I also really, really, really dislike SATA questions. Hoping to get a better hang of them as quickly as I can.

What I've Learned In Nursing School So Far
I miss AN so much. This is the first time I have been on here in a while. I have learned so much new stuff since starting NS. I miss my friends a lot. My instructors were right when they told us we would probably no longer be straight A students . (still passing with a decent grade) We have very, very strict testing policies. My tattoos are a bigger pain in the butt than I thought they would be. (hating long sleeves) Assess, assess, assess! And basically live by the nursing process. What a fun, exhausting, challenging chapter!

If you we're a new nursing student? What would you do?

when to apply
I personally do not know anything about California programs, but I wanted to mention something to you. If I were you I would check with the program/programs of your choice to see what the minimum TEAS V score is (if there is one), and also check to see if you can take it multiple times, if so how long you have to wait between times. Good luck.

GTCC Spring 2016
What is GTCC?

Be candid how do I handle my illnesses with regards to the BON if I get an interview.
For my program (and probably all of them?) we had to be cleared by a MD. Good luck.

Tattoos!
I have a half sleeve that I love, however it has to be covered for NS. I have one on the back of my neck and one behind my ear. (regret those 2 for sure) Our schools policy is no visible tattoos. Any time I have been to the school for anything nursing school related I have covered them up. (I do not officially start until 8-24) We have had orientation and a few other meetings. I am not ashamed of my sleeve, I just choose to cover it so my instructors don't make a prejudgment of me because of them. I stay hot all of the time, and I am not looking forward to wearing long sleeves, but what can ya do?

What's next?
Be aware some schools do not take repeat classes. Make sure you look into the policies of the schools you are applying to. Good luck!

4 Weeks Of Freedom
Six days...gosh! The accelerated programs sound so intense!

4 Weeks Of Freedom
I purchased a Littman Classic ii yesterday. I have heard good things about them as well. I kind of wish I would have gotten the cardiology 3, especially since it was only about $30 more on Amazon. DNP program, ah how awesome! I hope I make it that far one day.

4 Weeks Of Freedom
That is a busy schedule. Our program is never more than 2 nursing classes in a semester..

4 Weeks Of Freedom
School bookstores are very expensive. I bought all of mine on Amazon for right around $600. I think the bookstore price was between $800 and $900. My class is 8 credit hours, so not too bad. Our program is Mon-Fri daytime. I just ordered a new stethoscope too. Those are pricey also.

4 Weeks Of Freedom
I start the 24th. I am so excited, nervous, all sorts of things. I am starting an ADN program. We only have one class the first semester, which is fundamentals of nursing. Thankfully, I don't have any other classes to take except my nursing classes. My schedule outline is crazy and not consistent. But, I think it is going to work out pretty well. We report no earlier than 08:30 for the first 8 weeks. Some days we go in later. After the first 8 weeks we will start clinical in a LTC facility. For clinical we start at 07:00. I am honestly looking forward to finding my groove. I have marked everything on my calendar in hopes to be able to map out my days. I am fearful of falling behind, but hoping I can find my groove of studying, time management, life, and everything else. I think the first semester is going to be overwhelming. After all of the reading I have done here on AN, whoa! But, I think it is going to be better than I think. I hope to transition well into my new role as a student nurse. I also hope to keep an open mind that is ready to learn! Congrats, and good luck to you and everyone else starting this journey.

Flu shot in July
My deadline for Flu shot "says" July 30, but we were notified we are not able to fulfill this requirement until October. Check with your program's compliance specialist to make sure. If you are indeed required to get this now, they should be able to point you in some direction as to where to get this done. Good luck, I know how crazy it is to have to get everything in order.

Best Shoe Brand for Wide Feet
I second the Alegrias. You really can not put a price tag on good shoes. Plus, you can wear them long after NS. I purchased my first pair a few months ago, and wore them around my house to get used to them. For me it was different because they have a little "heel". I also have very wide feet that swell all of the time. Totally worth the money.
