Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Published

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

I'm somewhere between being eager to start and soaking up all my free time. I'm going to six flags next week--thought I'd get it in now before it's too late!

Is the coursework interesting so far?

Very interesting. You get so much thrown at you at one time. Make sure you take notes and study them.

Thank God I passed all three! They weren't bad at all, I was just nervous about having three in one week. And my granddaughter was born last week so honestly I spent so much time at the hospital I didn't study like I should have. But I'm back on track now! :geek:

Congrats on your gandbaby! that's exciting! you have a lot to be thankful for and it sounds like you're doing great in your courses. I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that it's manageable.

Wifeoffireman congratulations on your grandbaby!!!

Gett eh books ahead of time DONT wait until class starts be prapared. You can use (generally) plain black shoes. I love my sketchers work shoes as a CNA. I LOVE them and they last and have no markings so they are great for nursing. As far as a stethoscope they sell some fairly cheep sets of BP cuffs but that can generally wait til you start clinicals. Just get books, and buy required clinical gear outlined as required ahead of time. I have to buy all of my kits, and books no later than the 1st. But clinicals don't start until half way through first quarter sometimes.

That makes sense. I am going to purchase the books this week probably. My school requires white, so I guess all white sketchers. I'll check it out. Thanks Valcorie!

Thank you!! And it really is doable, just keep your eyes on the prize! I have a countdown app on my phone and every time I get frustrated I look at it and remind myself that this too shall pass!!

I have! I'm reading the first few chapters from my fundamentals books to start off with and going over pharmacology a little everyday.

Yes. We had an orientation last Thursday where we received reading assignments and assignments due on the first day about the nursing logic. We were also informed of a quiz we will be getting on the first day as well. I'm nervous. :sorry:

I've also started reading chapters on the nursing process from my fundamentals book just to get familiar and ahead of the game.

Off topic, I received my scrubs in the mails today! It was so exciting trying them on. It made my day. Lol.

Hey all! I am in this bunch, I start August 24th at UTHSCSA. It's a BSN program. I am just starting to order my books. :)
