looking for my first contract
Thanks for the advice. I think I may have the bio-chemo certification, I'm not sure and will have to look. I am chemo certified by my job, however, I don't care to stay in oncology. I am applying for my license in other states. As far as needing more experience, I see that posted a lot. I also see lots of posts (from here and other places) with nurses with 1-1.5 yrs of experience who are comfortable taking travel jobs, and have succeeded in travel jobs. I am aware that I may need more experience to get a travel job. However, this is what I want to do for the time being so might as well go for it. There will always be jobs that say you need x years of experience, and it doesn't hurt to give it a try. A friend landed a new grad RN job in a Cath lab, so you really never know until you submit applications ? The feedback I've heard was they wanted someone with more experience, but again, there aren't a whole bunch of jobs in my state. I don't think I'm doing myself a disservice by trying.

looking for my first contract
Hi all, Wondering if it's normal to take a while to get an interview. I'm working with several recruiters and have been submitted to a few jobs, but only heard back from one manager. There also aren't very many jobs in my state, so I think that's part of it. I recently hit my one year of acute care nursing and work in a specialty (oncology). I'm ready for a change. I'm guessing it may just take some time, but wondering if anyone had any advice. Thanks!

Late to the thread, but I'm very excited to be part of the Class of 2017! More excited than I was for my BA! Classes start August 31st, orientation on August 19th.

Worried pre nursing student
I wouldn't be too concerned. You've already made an effort in improving yourself, and showing future colleges that you're willing to do the hard work required. I failed a class, and ended up retaking it. I have had no trouble being accepted anywhere (though the class and the retake did not transfer, but it's math, and those rarely do) like state schools, CCs, or private universities. They'll see that you were able to improve. If they ask, explain what happened and that you're extremely committed, which they'll be able to see with the better grades in the classes you retook. Good luck in the LPN program! Remember, colleges and universities see lots of different students and transcripts, some probably like yours. A BSN program will look at your grades, but since you would already have an LPN, they'd be happy to have you.

ABSN cost?
I have a BA in Psychology with a minor in Business. I realized in senior year I wasn't interested in becoming a counselor or social worker, and research/teaching isn't what I want to do, either. I'd like to do Psychiatric nursing as an NP I think.

ABSN cost?
My total student loan debt from both programs would be about $140k. My parents did not/will not help with my education costs. I looked into the repayment plans (I'm already on the 25yr plan) and at 6% interest, my payment would go up to near 1k a month. I ultimately want to become an NP or forensic nurse and am really thinking I'd be close to 200k in debt after it's all said and done. Back to the drawing board, thanks!

ABSN cost?
This is what I figured. My BA was more than 60k unfortunately. Thank you for your response! I am waitlisted for an RN program, but looked into other options and this seemed so good til I looked into the cost.

ABSN cost?
Hello! I am applying (maybe) to an ABSN program in Indiana. I have some questions before I submit my application (literally almost done). 1. Anybody who is also looking at an ABSN/did an ABSN, how did you handle the cost? 2. I have a large amount of student loan debt from my BA and am seriously concerned about taking out another 60k to cover the tuition and living expenses since the director said I pretty much can't work to help offset any costs. Is 60k (give or take, there are some additional living expenses I'll have this year) an average cost for an ABSN? 3. Is Marian University a good program? lol I'm just worried I'm getting into something I can't handle after graduation. Thanks for any replies!
