Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Published

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

I don't have orientation until August :/ I'm very excited about starting the nursing program, and shockingly, not yet nervous. I was ridiculously nervous for my interview a couple of months ago...the Dean of Nursing seemed so intimidating, but turned out to be a really sweet person. As far as supplies go: look for them on Amazon.

Congrats on making it in, yourself :) 2017 will probably be here before we know it!

Congrats on making it in. My classes start in August. We had a two day orientation last week. We will be getting a welcome letter at the beginning of August with a complete list of our school supplies and book list. I have already started getting things off of Amazon. For Littmann stethoscopes I found the best price on Amazon with free shipping. Even if it is not required by your program get the NANDA-I nursing diagnosis book. It is one that Greentea recommends and was also recommended to me by another member on AN.

I've already purchased the Nanda 2015-2017 Nursing Diagnoses as well as Medical dosage calculations for Dummies. I got them both off of Amazon. I purchased my Littman's 2 stethoscope off of Allheart.com and they even engraved my name on it.

HIIIIIIII!!

I start in August. I got my acceptance letter last week and have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off since then, but I've finished with all of the forms, shopping, etc. I have a CPR class and orientation in the middle of July and the fun begins in August! I've been working through Math for Nurses and a test success book because I'm definitely far more nervous than excited.

Everyone makes it sound like nursing school is the hardest, worst thing there ever was. It's a little discouraging. :(

Hey! I start in August and I am honestly so excited! My orientation is in the beginning of August and classes start on the 26th of August. I'll be taking Med-Surg, Pharmacology and Health Assessment. They haven't mentioned anything about a stethoscope but I'm assuming I need to get one, obviously. I am going to order my scrubs in the next few weeks, I just recently got my CPR license. I'm ready to start! :-)

Hello class of 2017! I am very excited/nervous to start. We had orientation in June...basically just telling us what to expect and meeting instructors and other students. We were given a book list awhile back (so expensive) The only thing I have left to buy is a nursing kit from the school bookstore and shoes. Does any one have any suggestions for shoes? I have to purchase black. Congrats to everyone!

Oh I wish my school required black! Mine have to be white...hello stains! I'm going to try something like Sketchers with gell inserts. I'm not a fan of $100 nursing shoes, but we'll see how my feet do after this semester.

We wear black scrub pants with a teal scrub top, so they picked black shoes thank goodness. I have been looking at allegria (sp?) I can't decide though, I am just not sure they will be comfortable. I don't really mind spending the money, because I can still wear them once I graduate and start working. We had to wear white in my CNA class..oh that was terrible. I had to clean them every day.

Oh that's a nice uniform. I like mine (white top, green bottoms) but again with the white. I'm a magnet for messes when I wear white.

For black shoes check Sketchers, in their work line of shoes they had black leather with a non skid sole.

We have the choice between black or white shoes for our program. Scrubs are black top and bottoms.

Thanks for the suggestions.
