Office location

Across from the Gym, 3 doors down from the main office and very close to the social worker.

We are in an odd situation. We are pretty far from the main building and regular ed classrooms, but we are very very close to our IND-S students and physically handicapped. It works out well, because that's where we are needed the most. It does filter out some of the very minor visits, they don't want to walk all the way across campus for something very minor. For the malingerers, it's great, they can get out of a class they don't like for a minimum of 15 minutes--5 minute walk here, 5 minute visit, 5 minute walk back. Many choose to take the scenic route, and can stretch the walk here into 10 minutes.

2nd floor, corner of the school, above the gym. Second floor is not the most convenient, but I have a bathroom attached, so I think that's why I got this room. I don't mind being further from the main office, but I'd prefer to be on the first floor. I'm relatively close to our therapist which is important since I handle a lot of the mental health issues when he's not here.

My office is around the corner from the front office, in the main hallway of the school. I have a back door that connects to a small hallway that leads to the office's back door, but we keep it locked. At my previous middle school (I am on a 9th grade campus now), the clinic was in the front office. I didn't like that location, because teachers used the clinic as a walkway from the hall to the office, to avoid carrying their keys to the security door. Also, any parent in the front office could listen in on my consultations with students, and I would get younger children who were waiting in car line in the afternoon coming in to use my restroom.

I much prefer to be separated from the front office. We have privacy, no one walks through the clinic, and I can call for help on the radio or on the phone if I need assistance. I do have a full-time assistant who covers for my lunch, so I can see where it would be advantageous to be in the office if you need coverage.

Basement, only office with a bathroom attached. Away from civilization...but I've learned to love my cave. We don't have AC in my school so at the beginning and end of school years it stays cooler, which helps.

In a previous school, my office was right off the main entrance across from the main office. This is Not where it should be. Parents felt like they had open access to me all the time and would just walk in...Not pretty

I think it is a good idea to be near the main office. That is where parents will come and sign a student out so they will be nearby. There are times that I like to talk to a parent when I am sending a kid home- to give a recommendation that they get the kid's throat swabbed or show how an injury looks now and what to be alert for.

Mine has moved 3 times in 2 academic years! My current one is hopefully here to stay until our entire school moves for the 2018-2019 school year to our new school! I am in a corner room on the First Grade floor (K is upstairs). Not an idea space- carpeted, no sink, bathroom 25 feet away and out of view...your current set-up sounds good and I would fight to keep it if it works well for you.

My office is near the main office and across from the lunchroom and gym. I like being near, but not in, the office.

I am in a very old building that has been remodeled and cobbled up over the years. My current office is in a corner at the end of a hall. It's close to PreK and kinders, but pretty far from the rest of the school. I don't mind the current placement as it works pretty well. That said, we are building a new school. In a couple years, I will have a brand new office, located adjacent to the main offices/administration. I like the new plan as maybe I will be more "in the loop" than I am now.
