Hey Cupcake2,

I can't help, but I can comiserate since I haven't heard either!!!

I called two weeks ago and was told all the decisions were mailed on May 1st, which seemed suspicious since other people on here were told differently (also it was a student embassador who sounded about 14). Anyway, I tried to wait patiently and then called again today and spoke to an actual admissions person. She said my app was complete, but a decision had not been made yet and I should hear by the end of the month :o At least I can stop freaking out whenever the mail comes since it hasn't even been mailed yet. Anyway, hold tight, we still have a chance!

Out of curiosity, will you be done with all your pre-reqs by fall or are you applying as a transfer like me to finish them at NYU? I wonder if that has something to do with it....

Fingers crossed!

Has anyone received their financial aid package yet? I'm still waiting on mine. I'm just dying to know how much debt I will be in once it is all over......

i just got mine.. looks like my "total awards" (including $ from the college of nursing, work study, stafford loan and unsub.staffor loan) = $22,500 for next year. so its looking like ive got to find private loans for about $33,000. im sort of confused with what to do now.. my boyfriend is going to grad school and it seems like he has access to the PLUS loan, but i dont think we do because we are undergrads. sort of stinks because it seems like we are stuck in between options because we are not grad students and this is not our first bach degree so we are limited in what gov. loans we have access to. can anyone else tell me if i am correct on this? do i just find a bank and get a loan through them or do i need to go through NYU's financial aid? thanks everyone

Yeah m83j I agree. I pretty much maxed out my loans from my first undergrad degree so now I am kinda stuck and not sure how to come up with all the money to foot the bill. I don't know if it is true or not but I heard that once you are in the program you can apply for your masters, which would make you a BSN/MA dual-degree student. Then you will be eligible for the same graduate loans that your boyfriend gets. This is assuming that you plan on getting your masters and that NYU offers the masters degee program that you want. Again, don't know if its true, but its worth looking into. I want to get my CRNA, which NYU doesn't offer so this does nothing for me :-( I believe you can get a loan from any bank of your choice. I don't see why you would have to go thru NYU's financial aid. At the end of the day so long as your bill is cleared and you are up to your eyeballs in debt, why would NYU care?

Also, how long after filling out your FASFA and sending in your deposit did it take for you to get your award?

Also, don't know if this helps but if you are quitting your job or reducing your hours at work (basically making significantly less money than you did in 2008 in order to attend NYU) you can fill out a form on the financial aid website to appeal the amount of $$$ given in your award. I called the financial aid office and they said that since I will be unemployed as a result of having to attend fulltime I should fill out this paper and they will more than likely give me more money. However, from what I hear the new amount is not significant....something like $3,000.....its a large amount on paper, but doesn't come close to putting a dent in $60,000 of tuition.....

cool, that helps a lot. every bit more financial aid helps i guess. i sent my fafsa in a few days late i believe (a few days after march??) then i got it about 1 week after i got my acceptance letter. hope that helps

Okay soooo I applied in DECEMBER..... all prereqs are done..... Is there anyone that have not graduate and still received their accpetance letter? Let me know. Does anyone know the method to this madness? Do they accept those who applied the latest and work their way back? What is up with this batch system? Expat, is there a trick that we don't know about? I've heard some people getting news over the phone. I wonder what is the secret code to find out? Also, do you think it is possible for us to have them put a rush on our apps? Like the next time they meet, have our 2 applications on the top of the pile. Wouldn't that be great!

Those of you that got accepted Congrats again!

And the torture continues for Expathopeful and Cupcake2 and all others that are still waiting :crying2:

hello all, this agonizing wait has been killin' me. I am on the same boat as ya'll. I wish I knew the trick, or some code. I just wanna know either way so that I can move on and not be hopeful everytime I check the mail. Oh well!! Hang in there, we all will get through this, hopefully soon :)

One of my friends had also applied, and he was able to get the answer through phone. It didnt work with me but you guys can give it a shot, hopefully it woks. So, from what he told me, he called 'em and when the student ambassador answered, he told the ambassador that he is still waiting to hear from NYU and he has to provide letter of intent to other schools that he got accepted at. He then asked if he could be transferred to somenone so that he could speak about the issue. The lady then answered and asked him by when he had to let other schools know, he told in 2 days or something like that ( really short time) and she asked him if he could call back the next day; when he called the next day and got the answer. I tried but I could not get anyone beyond the ambassador, you guys can give it shot!! I just could not wait anymore and put in deposit for my other school. Anyhoo Goodluck too all of you!

hi kelzy, would u mind sharing how much the bursar bill u per semester.- i know that it is 18,250 per semester plus about 200 lab fees- I am just wondering if there are some hidden fees- like activity fees, registration fees... and also i know that they give out 3,000 scholarship- is that every semester or only the first semester.. Thank You!

Yes- any info on tuition and additional fees would be very helpful. I received my financial aid letter a while back and need to be realistic about things and know that little items add up. Please feel free to include books, uniform, activity fees, health insurance, etc. I am happy to be attending NYU in the Fall, but am I looking at over 70,000?

Thank you again!

Hey I just wanted to give those waiting some hope. I sent my application the day before the final deadline in late March. I was asked for my mid-term grades only last week, I graduated on Saturday and got my acceptance letter today. Don't give up!

Hey guys...

My total for the spring semester: Tuition was $17,615. There were two separate college of nursing fees, one was $1,071 and the other was $192 and my student health insurance was $852. Obviously none of that includes living expenses, which will depend on where you live, etc.

I can't tell you for sure that everyone gets a nursing scholarship because I only know what I got. I did get a scholarship for both semesters that I've attended.

Books cost around $500 per semester, sometimes more or less depending on where you buy them. Scrubs are about $25 for a set. You have to buy a watch and nursing shoes on your own. You'll get a nursing bag your first semester which has a stethescope and blood pressure cuff with some other supplies that you'll be using in lab.

Am I forgetting anything?
