NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009

Published

hey there!

i just submitted my application for nyu, fall 2009. it was a pretty lengthy process, which i guess is good because their application is very well rounded. now the waiting starts!

has anyone else applied for fall 2009?? i applied for several other schools but nyu is definitely my #1 choice. i'm so nervous!!!:uhoh3:

I sent my stuff in as well right before the FINAL deadline and still haven't heard anything back. Anyone have any updates they could share from calling admissions themselves?! I have a feeling I'll be waiting till June (or July even).. my feeling is that they are waiting to see how many of those that they have accepted will actually attend the school and if they choose not, then those spots are being given to the "left-over" pile. Just a guess, but its my way of looking at this wait in a good way!?! lol

Hi Kelzy,

Thanks so much for the info. Did you apply to the scholarships they list on NYU's website, or is there anywhere else we should look?

Thanks again!

Thanks Kelzy!! just wondering if student health insurance is mandatory!! Thanks again.. this is very helpful!!

I just received an email from NYU bookstore congratulating me on my acceptance to the school etc etc. did anyone who got in get this email too? I'm away from home and I haven't gotten a chance to check if I received the actual letter at my actually residence. . so I'm going a little nuts trying to actually figure out if that email means I got in or not. Plus since its a long weekend [Memorial Day] I won't be able to call NYU to ask till Tuesday!! and this email it eating me alive right now! lol helllp!

Yay Mehr!!! We're in!!!!! :D

The same thing happened to me yesterday too! I got the bookstore email and was so confused and hopeful. Unfortunately I was too chicken to call the admissions office to check and see if it was really true until 4:55pm and they'd closed by then, but check out this thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/619178-2009-fall-transfer-nyu-80.html

towards the bottom of the page. The same thing happened to four transfer students who were all brave enough to phone before the office closed and they were all told they were in!!! The office said " we usually prefer to let the applicants know through the mail...not an e-mail from the bookstore, but congratulations you were accepted" It was a glitch in their system. Somehow the bookstore was more on top of it than the admissions office. I bet they pulled our names off a database of newly admitted students or something. Anyway, we're in!!!! Best start to a weekend ever!

See you this fall!

That happened to me a couple weeks ago....I received two generic letters with information from financial aid that congratulated me on getting in. Sure enough, that Friday I got my official letter in the mail. Congratulations!!

The email seems too good to be true.. I thought it was spam, but I checked my spam folder and nothing like that type of email or any other from NYU was ever in there- So I'm hoping you guys are correct in saying it mean I got in~ Nonetheless, I think i'll hold off on any "celebrations" till I get the Actual letter! lol :) .. thanks for the help !!

hello all NYU fall 2009ers,

I too will be starting next fall and I'm trying to decide if I should live in student housing or not. I think I'd prefer finding an apartment with 2 or 3 others for more flexibility....

ucdavisstudent - still looking around for housing? let me know!

thanks and looking forward to meeting all of you!

Alison

Alison,

Yes I'm still looking for housing!! I actually have been pretty busy so I haven't had the chance to look at listings but I will have more time this week.

I'm not sure how to send private messages...so please email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

Kenny

Where do most Nursing students pick to live - in terms of residence halls?! I think I'd like to be around other Nursing students when choosing housing.. Any suggestions?

Agh, at the last minute I sent in my deposit to NYU. I hope that they accept it! There's so much going on in my life right now, and I don't want to make a bad decision. I have heard mixed reviews about NYU, but I've heard mixed reviews about ALL accelerated nursing programs.

Kelzy,

Are there any networking/connections for jobs in other cities? I'm not sure that I want to begin my professional life in NYC.

Thanks,

A

Yes there are. The college of nursing holds a job fair every december and hospitals from all over are there. You don't have to stay in NY when you're done, at all.
