In Need of Ideas For Holistic Nursing Work/Certifications
Hello! I too am in the same exact boat and am currently about to finish my BSN at NYU. I came here originally because it was the only school that offered a promising looking Holistic NP program. While I think it's a great choice, I decided to do an FNP program instead (later on..) and they dont currently have one but will be starting one in about a year. I believe at that time you will be able to combine holistic with either family or adult... I just dont really want to live in NY for this long and decided to look at programs out west. Look into it! BTW Sarah27, what kinds of tasks did you do in the holistic family practice? Just curious because I'm trying to look at similar work environments...Thanks!!

Career Opportunities for Holistic Nurses
Tsentas, you're leaving us all hanging! I just found this discussion and have really been enjoying it as I hope to be involved in integrative therapy clinics someday...Im almost done with nursing school and today in the hospital I pretty much decided that I dont know if I could even last a year pushing a med cart. Not to say it isnt an amazing place to work, but I dont have the skillset to manage and maneuver in such an environment.... Please keep me posted, everyone on what you are doing - and if you have any recommendations for first job sites for a non-hospitalist (thinking community, although IV therapy sounds really appealing)

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
oh man, it sounds brutal. student housing is scaring me cause i put 26th first, and in all honesty, i dont really want to live that far from the main campus. Im totally still interested. Greenwich village and the east village seem to be lovely places and i know we could find a better deal. Keep looking!!!! Alison

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
That sounds really good! Student housing is waay more expensive. I am stalling on sending in my 1000 deposit, but I think we can cancel by the 17th of July (orientation!). Ill look for you on the NYU nursing facebook group, otherwise, my name is Alison Greenberg and I think you can reach me easily through private message. Cool, im excited to chat more!

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
NJYenta, Hey, I also sent in a deposit, but am vaguely interested if you (or someone else) had access to the city and could do the craigslist thing. Campus housing is super expensive, so I'm not 100% sure I want to do it. Are you on facebook? I'd be curious to talk and get to know each other. Are in in the ny area such that you could actively look for housing? let me know! Alison facebook (Alison Greenberg) look on the nyu nursing group

Thanks for the encouragement! I know you're right and I just have to get used to the fact that living in new york is expensive. Do you think any nursing students end up in the other upperclassman dorms, like greenwich village? The scary thing now is that i ultimately wont know where they place me until August! Anyone living in dorms, lets keep in touch - Im not elligible yet to complete the application for housing yet, but if anyone wants to potentially share a 2 bedroom let me know. Me: artistic, cellist, passionate about health, went to berkeley and have lived here for the past 6 years! excited/terrified of the big city... mehr, kelzy, thanks again for the support!

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
Hello everyone, Kelzy, Mehr etc, I feel really guilty about choosing oncampus housing (hopefully 26th). I just sent in the first round of deposits, and I know you can decide by july 17. I just dont think it would be feasible to compete while in california - this stress and hassle of finding a place and making sure it works out seems like a stretch for me, who knows no one really in new york.... what do you guys think? for my situation (no friends/connections, not from or in new york/just starting the program) would you reccommend student housing? I want to meet people and Im hoping that living with other students will ultimately make me happier as i transition....****, im nervous! thanks all, Alison

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
Mehr, I am struggling with this decision too. The deposit is due pretty soon so I'm tempted to just send it in. I think 26th street is pretty good since its a mixture of grad (med students) and undergrad, although its kind of far from classes and outrageously expensive. Realistically, I dont know how easy finding a place would be if we're not in the city. Good luck, let me know what you decide! Alison

missathena! Sounds awesome. I cant figure out how to send private messages (its forbidden for me!). I know you have a difficult decision to make, but you cant let the breakup mentality determine where you go. I totally understand though, change of scenery is helpful. From your above post I see that you're also into the holistic program - thats why I applied to NYU and only NYU even though I now feel like i didnt give myself many options. We should definitely talk - it might be easier to email me directly at [email protected] Good luck, and keep in touch, Alison

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
hello to everyone. missathena, I feel like you are channeling me. Im also about to send in my deposit and am terrified of going and whether its the right choice for me. It's nice to know Im not the only one... Im also struggling with the idea of living in student housing. I know theres med students and dental students in 26th street, but its like 17,000 for the year!!! I feel like I could find housing for less but I dont know how hard this would be and of course I want to live with fellow nursing students. Does anyone know where/what student housing location thery're living? Want to?

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2009
hello all NYU fall 2009ers, I too will be starting next fall and I'm trying to decide if I should live in student housing or not. I think I'd prefer finding an apartment with 2 or 3 others for more flexibility.... ucdavisstudent - still looking around for housing? let me know! thanks and looking forward to meeting all of you!
