I had a 3.97 at Hunter, but a 3.13 from Penn State - they combine all grades from all schools, plus you have to take the NLN. So 50% is the NLN score, and 50% your combined GPA.

Hi Jlan, The Hunter accelerated program has not begun yet - they are starting it this summer. I got my email acceptance to the generic pathway, and then another email the same night from the dean inviting me to this new program they are starting this summer for students who already have a degree in something else. It starts in June and runs for 14 months until next August. So instead of 4 traditional semesters, the coursework would be done in the following order: summer, fall, spring, summer. It's a great option for those with a previous degree - I had no idea that this would be available when I applied and it has totally changed my game plan. I was kind of set on NYU because I'm eager to get the ball rolling, but now with this new program, Hunter's actually starts sooner, ends sooner and is much much more affordable. The A & P courses at Hunter have been great - the teachers who run that course care so much and I've learned a great deal. The other chems and bios have left a lot to be desired - but that said, I'm sure any school has a tough time making those courses interesting. I just became really frustrated because as a second degree student, I had to schedule all of my courses after the regular students, and had a lot of trouble getting into these classes that have only a limited number of seats - and every time I called and emailed - they gave me the runaround or told me to wait until next year, and I was pulling my hair out! I'm so torn about what to do - both programs have their positives and negatives, but I feel lucky to at least have a choice! L

Thank you so much for your input. I've been taking all my pre-req's at Hunter this year, and administratively, the school is a disaster in my opinion. That's what scares me about doing the accelerated program with them - I'm afraid of being the first round guinea pig! They do have a decent reputation, but the facilities and instructors (at least with the pre-req's) have been lacking - many teachers have actually said to me that CUNY doesn't pay them enough to put more time in. I think the nursing program is much different - and the professors care much more, but the lack of funding is certainly an issue. Glad to hear you had such a wonderful experience at NYU - where did you do your clinicals? What were the facilities/classrooms/teachers like? Again, thank you!

Hey there, I've recently been accepted to both NYU's accelerated BSN and a new program Hunter College is starting - also an accelerated BSN that starts in June. Obviously Hunter is much more affordable, but I wonder - is there a big difference in the actual programs? Where are the clinical sites for each? Are the facilities very different? I'm getting so anxious about it - both seem like such a great opportunity, but I hesitate to be a guinea pig in Hunter's program since its new. Any thoughts?
