That is not necessarily true. The larger the school, the more seats available. In general, there are a limited number of seats in most nursing programs. The accelerated nursing program in the college of new rochelle (which is a private school around 25,000/semester) has 8 seats. Downstate accepts 45-50 ppl per term. NYU is a big school, the incoming class has around 200 students out of the thousands that apply. So while you may have better luck with an expensive school because ppl tend to flock to those first, there is still limited space in most programs due to space, nursing faculty and hospital availibilty for clinical rotations.
