  1. Hi all, I am currently finishing my ADN-RN program in the US. Say, I wanted to move to canada ( have legal documents to work in Canada), so can I work as a RN with my two-years RN degree from US in Canada or Do I need mimimum of 4-years of RN (BSN) degree from US and then take the CRNE? What is the process like? Thank you all.
  2. Hello all, Looks like you guys are applying for spring 10. I am also on the same boat.I had wanted to go for fall 09 but applied only at one school, and so here I am trying for spring 10. I am now in Houston, and I have completed all my non-nursing prereqs ( A and P, micro etc etc) and such at local CC here. However, UTA needs nursing pre-reqs ( Concepts of professional Nursing, pathophysiology and Pharmacology) I have completed Pharm, but I dont know where to take the remaining two. My cc does not offer patho, so if any of you are from North Houston area, or houston, where did you guys take Patho and Concepts of Professional nursing? also, for HESI- its only Math and Reading rite? There is no science section?
  3. hello all, this agonizing wait has been killin' me. I am on the same boat as ya'll. I wish I knew the trick, or some code. I just wanna know either way so that I can move on and not be hopeful everytime I check the mail. Oh well!! Hang in there, we all will get through this, hopefully soon :) One of my friends had also applied, and he was able to get the answer through phone. It didnt work with me but you guys can give it a shot, hopefully it woks. So, from what he told me, he called 'em and when the student ambassador answered, he told the ambassador that he is still waiting to hear from NYU and he has to provide letter of intent to other schools that he got accepted at. He then asked if he could be transferred to somenone so that he could speak about the issue. The lady then answered and asked him by when he had to let other schools know, he told in 2 days or something like that ( really short time) and she asked him if he could call back the next day; when he called the next day and got the answer. I tried but I could not get anyone beyond the ambassador, you guys can give it shot!! I just could not wait anymore and put in deposit for my other school. Anyhoo Goodluck too all of you!
  4. Hi, did Ya'll apply for any particular scholarship application? I remember reading on the application that there wasnt any separate application if we wanted to be considered for any scholarship. But again I might have missed it as I was rushing through writing those essays at the last hour. I still havent heard anything,I am kinda giving up congratulations all of you who got in!!!
  5. hello all, First off congratulations to those who have made it to NYU!! I applied two days before the March 1st deadline, so still waiting ( and am sure not likin' it). I got an email last week asking for my mid-term grades for this semester, did anyone else receive that too? I don't know what to make out of it though, I was just happy that my file wasnt in a shredder :) For those of you who have already received your accepatnce letter, did you also receive anything for scholarship or financial aid? ( They didnt have a seperate application for scholarship/fin aid as far as I can remember) so I was just wondering how they are going to determine the eligibility? Good luck!
  6. Thanks for the reply Becca. I sure will look further into UTH accelerated program. I think I missed the deadline for this Fall, think it was on Feb 1.I will still need to take A&P I and II, and also History and Political science pre-req required in Texas, so am shooting for next academic year ( hopefully). Would it be a good idea to get the ADN degree in a community college and then go for the MSN later on? The tuition will be lot cheaper that way, and I am assuming lower GPA will not affect much as CCs are less competitive??).Any good ADN programs in Houston area? For some reason, I dont seem to find any community college that offers ADN program in Houston.
  7. hello Becca, You mentioned that you applied for accelerated program, I am thinking of applying to the accelerated program as well. I have BS in Biology, but my GPA isnt that great, so wasnt too sure if UT will accept me. I do have substantial work experience working as a CNA and with DD. How much of a factor would the low GPA be in a selection criteria? do you know any other schools that is not so competitive for accelerated programs in Dallas area or Houston area?
  8. on the same note, I have a bachelors degree in Biology and I would like to be RN in a long run. I was planning to go for the accelerated nursing degree, but there are very few schools that have accelerated nursing program here in Northwest region. One of the RN that I am acquainted with told me that If I finish up two year RN program from a community college, then it would be equivalent to BSN Since I already have a BS degree. Just wanted to make sure if it is right.
  9. Hi all, I am alicia, fairly new here, hoping to get some answers to my queries. Thanks for your help. okay, here is the deal: I am an international student, currently going to school in US for my bachelors degree in Biology and chemistry. I will be done with my BS in May 2007, and I am planning on going for an accelerated bachelor's degree in nursing after May 2007. I was looking at accelerated nursing schools in US, almost all of them were very expensive, However it wasnt the case in Canada. The accelerated program is fairly cheaper in canada ( atleast to my understanding, I am not sure if thats the case!). So, then my question is: Should I choose to go to Canada for my accelerated degree, and get my RN from there, what will be my procedure to come to US (to work) upon completion of my Accelerated Nursing Degree in Canada? ( I might be a Canadian Resident by 2008(??) , so say in two cases: 1. what is the procedure to come to US if (I am a Canadian resident), and (If I am an International student)) Thank you so much!
  10. Hi all, I am fairly new here, hopefully I am posting in a right place. I will have my bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry in May 2006. I am thinking of going into a nursing career. I am planning on moving to Seattle after I finish my bachelors degree, My question is: Are there any accelerated BSN programs offered in any schools in Seattle? I checked the UW-Seattle site, they have Direct entry program to MS for those who hold a bachelors degree, but they dont have any accelerated BSN degrees. I am just worried to go into MS directly because the only nursing experience I have is working as a CNA, and getting my CNA. Moreover, It might be competitive to get in. If you know any school that offers any accelerated program preferably in Seattle or else near (2-3 hrs Drive) from seattle, then Please let me know. Thanks. Alicia.
  11. HI guys, One of my friend is looking for a CNA training courses offered at NYC, she finally found one at lehmans college. I thought I might put it up here since there were couple queries about this. and I have one question regarding CNA at NYC. Do hospitals, assited living, nursing home sponsor for greencard for CNA in NYC? My friend needs help on this matter. and for me personally, I am in Minnesota and I am doing my undergrad in bio-chemistry, I just completed my CNA program. I was wondering if any nursing homes, hospitals sponsor for greencard for CNA in Minneosta or anywhere around the US. Your help on this matter would be really appreaciated. Thank you,
  12. Hi all, I have just passed the CNA exam, yet to get my certificate. I am currently doing my BS in Biochemistry, and I have about 2 semesters left. I have always wanted to be a medical doctor, however I found out that there is a very slim chance that i could get into med school here at US since I am an intl student. ( unless I have a super high MCAT scores, high GPA, or unless In IVY league schools or top tier school) so I am thinking of doing an accelearted nursing degree upon completion of my BS. I got certified to work as a CNA last week, havent worked as CNA yet, am excited and looking forward for it! I am not sure what kind of facilities is better to work for CNA rookie like myself? Since I will be working while taking about 17-18 credits/semester, is there any recommended facilities ( home care, assisted living hospitals) in terms of pay, work load e.t.c. I was wondering if there is any school, red cross or any other facilities that provides CNA training or CNA test out in NYC? My sister is thinking of a career change, unfortunately she hasnt been able to find CNA test out, or CNA classes at NYC. Any schools, any info on this matter is helpful. Thankyou so much.
