Nurse's Week Gifts from Employers

Published

With nurse's week being kicked off today, I'm seeing posts on social media about things people are getting from employers. Everything from a tote bag with the employer's logo to a bottle of wine (can I work there?!). I'm not working til Tuesday so I won't know what, if anything, my employer has going. I know this topic has been done in the past and some people have mixed feelings-- ie they'd rather their employer spend the money on better staffing. But it could be a fun topic too, so what'd ya get?

From 1 company we got cupcakes at each of our locations- it was sweet with a little note saying we appreciate our nurses.... my other place- my supervisor is way too busy to even notice lol.

Last year, it was a beach towel. This, it is a HUGE umbrella. So huge that the whole family can fit under it. Sure thing to take on the beach later this summer!

Plus candy, daily lunches from sponsors all week for day shift, and massage chairs for those who got time.

The morale here is so low no one cares. 10 people quit this month

I now have worked night shift for 2 years after 40 years of days. It is also a week for the hospital employees not just nurses. On night shift i finally got 2 pieces of cold pizza while we were having 2 deliveries. Everything is geared for day shift and you have to be working that day to get anything. If there is something at nights, the nurses are usually to busy to get to it , too long a line with all hospital employees or around the first 2 hours of a shift( when you are doing assessments). I do remember the days of great gifts though. Very much a lack of appreciation for night and/ or admin. doesn't want to come out in the middle of the night when we can also have time to do something quick. It is really great to get a meal from 7 to 8 pm only they are out of food before 730 pm. ( of course it is still from days .

I meant 10 deliveries-not 2 with 5 before 10.

I will say there were lots of goodies from the pharmacist on the unit and Sees Candy from the Union. The union even had designated boxes for days and nights so that was really nice.
