Nurse's Week Gifts from Employers

Nurses Relations

Published

With nurse's week being kicked off today, I'm seeing posts on social media about things people are getting from employers. Everything from a tote bag with the employer's logo to a bottle of wine (can I work there?!). I'm not working til Tuesday so I won't know what, if anything, my employer has going. I know this topic has been done in the past and some people have mixed feelings-- ie they'd rather their employer spend the money on better staffing. But it could be a fun topic too, so what'd ya get?

A tote bag, free ice cream, car chargers (this one was weird), free massages...

AND I've only been here a week - picked a good time to start!

We got to have the administration do walking rounds. If you were lucky you didn't get written up for an infraction of the rules. I'm dumbfounded that they think we want to see them round on us for nurses week.

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

Two years ago when I was working at an ltc we got a fun tshirt and a little treat with a play on words. Simple but so wonderful that they did anything

now I work in a huge multi-specialty clinic and do a casual weekend gig for a competing hospital system. Absolutely nada from the clinic and a mass thank you email from the hospital system.

I haven't been there long enough to get the unit's specialty certification covered by the hospital, but I hired on just before the hiring bonuses started. They gave me ice cream, though.

Specializes in Registered Nurse.

If there was anything...I missed it. I don't think there was. Oh,...and I work in a big place.

Specializes in ICU, Postpartum, Onc, PACU.

Nada. Last night there were massage therapists going around and giving massages, but the two of us in ICU were too busy to do one when they came at 2200. They said they'd come back at 2300, but we didn't see them for the rest of the night. Besides that, we got some old blood oranges (wrinkled and not good) and some mini bags of honey roasted peanuts.

#awesome:yawn:

xo

My hospital does the same thing with "hospital week". All staff get free meals, which are provide by our terrible cafeteria. This year nurses received a carnation.

I work in a small facility but our DON is doing a carry in. She isn't a pain in the ass, is reasonable, and truly wants us all to do well so honestly that's present enough for me. She often gets us fleece jackets, hoodies, etc when we have deficiency free surveys, no falls, etc.

It's nice to be regularly appreciated, not just the one designated week a year. That's awesome she does that!

I got a pen. Last year I got a pen. Year before that, a pen. They are the 2/$1 kind you get at Dollar Store.

This year my pen won't write, I'm taking it as a sign lol.

I think you are the "winner" so far this year, Extra Pickles. Your story is the most pathetic and made me laugh out loud. Thank you for sharing.

I added to my lunch bag collection! I lost count of how many company logo bags I have. But I actually do use one of the smaller ones for lunch.

I guess for nurses' week this year, myself and another employee got our paycheck a week late. Yay us!
