You know how you have that one favorite pen that fits just right in your hand and writes so smoothly? You get very attached to it....and then, much to your dismay it seems to grow legs and disappears. Be prepared by stocking up so you'll always have a backup.
What? Nobody charting with a Mont Blanc? Though I guess if you carried a Mont Blanc you wouldn't need a nursing career. And there are pens even more expensive that Mont Blanc's.
i actually have three Mont Blanc, In the day of paper charting.....it was my oasis.....noodler makes great bullet proof inks that hold up in some time moisture prove specialties as critical care and ER
I just use whatever pen is laying around. I worked LTC for three years and only had to use a pen for report as everything was computer charting. I lost my habit of keeping a pen in my pocket. When I went back to acute care last year with all paper charting, I kept loosing my pen as I would would write something and then go do something and leave me pen. I'm just starting to get into the habit of keeping my pen on me but now I always seem to end up with anywhere from 3-6 pens in my pocket at the end of the shift or 3-4 pens where I've been charting. I always leave the pens at work at the end of my shift. I have a habit of triple checking my pockets to make sure I don't go home with the narcotic keys.

I always leave my pens too, or they go through the wash. I always blame my youngest son, but it's me!
I used to buy those multi-color pens where you can click one button for black, another for green, etc. All with the sincere intent that it'll make me all super-organized and stuff, with my brain sheet all color coded with PRNs in red, accucheck in green, labs in blue and all that.
But.... at the end of the shift, despite all my good intentions, my brain sheet is still a hot mess with stuff scrawled all over it with whatever color I happened to click at that moment.... my dreams of color-coded organization dashed again.
So I quit buying the multi-color click pens, cause it was too depressing.

Happens to me every time. Every time! Sad panda.
I use Pilot G-2 10, bold. It's my favorite. I am very protective of my pen. If I lose it all h**l breaks loose and my co-workers know it. I'll have the entire clinic looking for my pen until it's found.
I am the exact same way, with the exact same pen! It's like they're made out of solid gold or something (just a really, really good pen)!!
