And what's the length of your shifts? How long of a commute is reasonable for you? What do you think of the coworkers who drive from farther away?

55ish mins away from my office. I could probably find a job closer, but I am not interested in hospital or SNF nursing. Plus, the pay is a little better and I am pretty much stress-free, so the drive is worth it. At some point, we may consider moving closer.

I work 5 miles from home, and my commute is about 15 minutes each way. My shifts range from 3.5 to 5 hours. I work private duty, doing bedtime care for 1 client. It works well for my family.

4 miles from home, 20 minute commute.
For those who have to travel, since I work at a Pediatric Hospital and there are fewer acute pediatric beds around, I can understand them wanting to work where I work

25 miles and 30-35 min commute each way BUT I work home hospice so I could be ending my day anywhere, usually no more than an hour from home but I try to see the patients closest to home in the afternoon that way part of my commute is paid for :)

I can do almost anything short term if it was a step to where I wanted to be, some means to an end.

About 4 miles, 10-15 minutes depending on whether I catch the traffic lights. Mon-Fri 10a-6p. I can understand why some people commute, sometimes an hour or more each way, but that's not something I'd personally ever be willing to do for a job.

First job... 3-11pm 5 days a week... 55 miles each way.. Plus I had to allow time to catch shuttle from contract parking to hospital. It was not fun, and this was before I had a house, husband, kids. I worked 12 hours during orientation for 3 months, and it was rough. At the ripe old age of 21, I was DONE at the end of a day on the floor and then the commute. Now my coummute will be 5 minutes (10 if it's peak traffic). I am grateful.

Four miles each way, no traffic lights, but one very tricky LEO that keeps changing his hiding place. (only stopped me once though)
