Hi tokiya! what's the present status of your docs? I'd like to ask if how long have you waited for philmans' final assessment of your docs until it was sent to AHPRA. I have'nt heard from them since 2nd week this april when I was told my docs are for final assessment already. thanks!

Good day everyone.

Okay, so I've successfully read all 820 pages of this thread and it has helped out a lot. Really comprehensive. Although I only scanned the latter parts of the thread cause majority of the posts have been redundant.

I'm pretty much clear with all the requirements needed, where to send the application, etc. and hopefully I get to gather and send all of it this or the next couple of months.

I graduated 2011 and recently just passed the NLE last December. I have no experience at all since I did just pass the NLE. Though I've been taking up seminars and courses (BLS, ACLS, IVT, etc.) which I think would be useful for me "personally" as this would give me additional knowledge in performing certain procedures and since, from what I've read in some posts, those certificates aren't really recognized in Australia. I would like to address these queries to cerydwin, joiemike, bobby or cioman as you guys are the most knowledgeable in this thread and with these kind of situations.

I'm planning to take up an EMT course here in the Philippines. After i'm done with the course my next step would be is to volunteer as one since i've read in the AGOS-40 form that you need at least 3 months full time experience. My questions are:

1. Would this volunteer experience as an EMT be considered as a "nursing" experience? I know it seems apparent because obviously both fields are the different, but just to clarify things and since those fields are relatively the same, i'd still push through with the question.

2. This EMT course i'm pursuing is Australian accredited, well at least according to the institution that conducts this course, it is. The certificates and ID's actually comes from Australia and they said those licenses are valid for a year. So my question is, would this course increase, even just the slightest nudge, my chances in landing a job in Australia? Especially in the hospital setting? The fact that those licenses are Australian accredited?

I have other questions but i'll just stick with these two first so as not to ask too much from you guys. Thanks!

If you say that your EMT course is Australian accredited, then go for it. I am an ER nurse back home and wanted to work in ER also in Australia. I got offered by one hospital for ER. But they required me to have Advanced Life Support course. I presume EMT and ALS are very similar. Anyway, I got offered to work in the hospital where I did my clinical placement in their new grad program. I took their offer instead because I like the place and the environment. Plus, the place is only about an hour's train ride away from Sydney.

Payment commences when you get employed. I guess they are confident that those they send for bridging course will in time be employed after they get registered. i have spoken to at least 5 nurses who availed of this program and who have been there since 2011 confirmed that they are still paying what they borrowed when they got work, and the agency also helped them look for employers.
hi tokiya! just want to ask, which state did Philman send your docs?

I'd love to be on an earlier intake but May/June is too early for me even if I will be given the chance to be admitted. I'm considering the time I have to process my visa which entails what? a minimum of 4 weeks? So just to be on the safe side, I'm OK with AUG/Sept. :) I'm pretty sure you'll get by just fine.
