New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Finally somebody has posted another possibility after their bridging program.

The fact is you will never find anyone posting in this thread to say 'I finished my BP, did not get a job, had to go back home'Even those who were in this thread a while back before they started their BP have no more posts to say they landed their dream job. There are a few who posted that they secured sponsorship and work - joiemike is the only one I remember and he has experience. There was this other guy who was boasting that there are lots of jobs but already has permanent residency before even starting his BP, not really a reliable source of information.Getting registered as a nurse in Australia is only the first step. You'll need an employer to sponsor you. If you can't get that sponsorship you will have to go home. I hope that there will be more posts from those who have finished their BP and had sponsorships and now working in Australia- and not just joiemike

AHPRA is a registration body. There are no tactics involved. The fact is their job is to assess if you are suitable to be a nurse in Australia.

PRC is the registration body in the Philippines. They don't create jobs for nurses there do they?

Schools that accept overseas applicants for BP are just that - schools. They won't find you work once you finish your BP.

hello, with regards to the IHNA interview, topics will be based on you line of expertise. If your on surgical nursing, you will be asked to discuss one or more surgical cases you have handled. Its up to you to maximize your time to their satisfaction. Just be stay relax and focus and be yourself. Good luck.

hi cheskaval121 yes I am.

Hi tokiya! It's nice to know that someone who signed up with philman is in this thread. I too signed up with them and like you received the confirmation of receipt from AHPRA. Can you pm me your contact number so we can update each other :DGod bless us all!

hi jamic and tokiya, i also signed up with philman. when did they send yours? mine was sent just last april 10, and no, no letter of confirmation yet (no surprise in that). im just glad i found you guys. feels more real now than when i was preparing my papers. wonder if we will be in the same intake, fine by me if i go much later. hehe. but i'd love to hear from you. btw, i have a friend who's already in melbourne under pmi too.

been reading back from this thread for a while. wow, so far, this is the most helpful thread i've found. and that's thanks to all of you guys. Godspeed! *waiting in faith*

That's my point AHPRA is a government registration body they are fully aware with thousands of registration queing up w/out counting their new graduates to be prioritized in landing a job & yet I repeat they still accepting reg. application. They are biting off more than they could chew. I know a friend from UK after receiving her LOE last month went straight to claim her registration with AHPRA perth office at the same time hunting for a job, to her dismay she went back to UK empty handed despite her 10 yrs plus of experience under her belt. according to her Australia is a very beautiful place but job wise it's getting tougher. it's very simple they are taking advantage of the situation ripping people including me. For them business is good & money is pouring in. I hope somebody from oz who undergone the same process & doing well dispute this claim to give us hope. Kindly bear with me coz i'm one of you waiting almost 8 months now docs received August 2011 AHPRA-WA final approval last Feb. Have faith our time will come. God bless to all.
