Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi Nursemavi or anyone else who can answer my question. I am doing my medicals this december. I have a friend working at st. Luke's Medical Center extension and she said that for a 456 short stay I need to forward my result to the embassy in Makati that would cost me Php 100 since it's just a short stay. I said, I will be working in and doing competence maybe in a hospital so I should do the full medical exam. She said, if you're a nurse and will be exposed then you have to do the full exam. I just don't know if I have to request the facility to send this to Canberra or to the embassy or maybe both. I would really appreciate your reponse on this. Thanks.
Hmmm... all medical results should be forwarded by the hospital to the embassy right? I know I've read somewhere on DIAC's website but I can't remember where exactly. Maybe the doctor know this since they are the ones who forward it? But the others can confirm this.
Thanks Aelith for the clarification..=) Anyhow, I kinda knew that but I guess I just lumped it all up..Btw, for instance if 456 visa is granted already to me for the part B challenge/clinical module, can my husband already come with me? I read in their immigration website that it is possible. However, has anyone already done this? If not, then how soon can the husband/wife join in Australia?
just curios, 456 visa is business short stay visa which is for "business people".. i assume you fall to this category thatz why you are intending to file for this type of visa.. how about with other nurses like me, i cannot apply for that visa because im not a "business people", thus nurses like me who would take the part b test should opt for the "visitor or tourist visa".. hope you could share your thoughts, i might have missed something which you could clarify,.. thank you..

your question needs an accurate answer, we can only speculate the answer to your legitimate question which could be our question too when the time comes for the rest of us..
first, try to ask your embassy accredited doctor, he might know something about this..
as far as aus embassy is concern, they dont need your "full medical check up" because you are just applying for 456 visa, full medical check up is normally required for student visa.. i dont believe canberra should be involve in this as aus embassy represents canberra..
hope your problem will be settled soon.. ideally, an immigration agent knows the answer, but for a price..
Am curious too regarding medicals for nurses. What tests do we have to check. It is good that we do it outside first so if we go there everything will be okay na and sure to pass.Any news now of anyone who passed the competency part A so we can have some tips on what to study?
i agree that better have yourself checked initially so in case of any concern, you could address it while your still here,..
the accredited aus embassy doctors knows that tests to undertake, example chest xray, mantoux test.. immunizations too esp for students and workers in health setting.. nursing boards website list the vaccine that you must have received..
Thanks so much for the info.... would check the nursing board.
Anyways, any luck on the reviewers for the challenge test?
would you think it also wise to go through an agency. So the faster we get to Auz the better cause we can get back what we invested already.
Can you imagine... to have experience in Manila, you still have to pay the hospitals.
If we pay an agency with employment assistance ( even for unexperienced) in 2-3 months upon employment in auz we can get beck what we paid for and we have 9 months of gain considering that there is 12 months in a year.
We have to get ahead of the pack.
They might get stricter there in the future.
Just a few clarifications:ASNC's fees will not amount to 500k; not even close. The latest fee is only 300k Php inclusive of Challenge Test only plus review materials, employment, visa, accommodation, food, one-way air fare. For the modules you will be adding an extra 1k AUD per module.
Another thing is, you may be employed in either a hospital or a nursing home as an RN if you have no experience. It will depend on which positions are available for you at the time you finished your registration with QNC. The CEO, however, told me that if one is inexperienced, he/she is more likely to be employed in a Country Area. The Country Area would not be in a far flung area or the Outback. He actually gave me the area where an inexperienced nurse may be employed and it's actually just around the big cities lol. To name a few, Sunshine coast, Canberra, Gold Coast. Those are good areas
And yes, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask us here. :) We'll try to help as much as we can.
hi aelith,
thank you so much for your clarification. im amazed how truly knowledgeable you are with the whole application for Queensland, Australia.hehehe. :bowingpur I'm 80% decided on signing up with ASNC now. but there is still one question that i have to ask. Do you know of anyone who signed up with ASNC and is now working in Australia? I need to know. Thank you so much for your posts. they are veryinformative. Keep it up!

hi cioman94..
i think you have already read this but i'll just post again..
business (short stay) visa (subclass 456)
ideal for nurses to undertake an approved bridging or pre-registration program for less than three months. nurses who successfully complete the course may be able to apply in australia for a business long stay visa.
