New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

FYI, sir paul of ANSM said that their branch in Manila haven't sent any nurses in AUS coz they(Manila branch) just started this year but their pioneer nurses will be in AUS by next year (early feb ata).

*so im really taking risks...:lol2:

hi meow meow,

can you tell me about ansm. i mean details regarding the package you've signed for. like why do you have to pay 8950aud. i am interested on applying also. nurse also from the philippines with 2 years exp and ielts.

how about the accomodation will they provide for it. are there other expenses aside from those mentioned above. hope to hear from you

thanks

hi! yes i signed up with them already though i still have to retake ielts. i paid the initial fee that they were requiring and will be paying the second installment after 6 weeks. :wink2:

they were actually shocked that i signed up with them so quickly (just a week after attending their orientation) :chuckle coz usually nurses would take a month or so before finally deciding :chuckle but i dont want to waste time anymore..so yeah! im with them now...:wink2:

I have no work exp. (not even trainings) so i decided to sign up with them coz they also offer employment assistance after registration --- although it would mean paying another 1k AUD aside from 8950aud (originally, it was 9300 but mine was included in their promo :yeah:)..

*BTW, im neither encouraging nor discouraging anyone to get their assistance..coz im juz taking risks here..:twocents:

best of luck to us!

Hello meowmeow,

are you from manila? I have also decided to sign up with ASNC, I will be sending my documents next week. I was told that though their Manila branch has not yet been able to send applicants to Oz, their Davao branch had already been able to do so.

meowmeow, we are practically having our processing around the same time. Lets support and encourage each other. hehehe Let me know if you will receive your study materials for the challenge test.

why do you have to pay, you must pay, 8950aud covers major expenses like assessment, exam fees, review materials, plane fare, and yes 4 weeks accommodation in Brisbane.. other expenses are the expenses you incur in obtaining your documents, notarization, etc. out of pocket expenses, like ielts for those who do not have such yet.. excluded expense is the online expense you incur if you fail in one or more of the modules..

i confirm your information.. and if i have time to pass by their davao office by february i'll check if the status of their clients by then..

hi! :redbeathe:Dthe original package price was 9300 but mine was discounted for their november promo --october promo was 8500 i think (too bad i signed up late):crying2:...:redpinkheto be safe just consider 9300:saint:..i dont know how much is it now in pesos but their coversion is exchange rate +2.5... example 9300AUD to pesos, is 9300 x (exchange rate that they'll tell you beforehand + 2.5) = pesoses....:D

the whole package includes 4weeks accomodation, review materials (that will be given the moment you sign up), assessment, exam fees, employment assistance, 1 visa and the like but you have to pay them additional if you fail any module (1,200AUD each), have less than 1 year exp. (1000AUD) and 250/week if you want to extend your stay in their place in AUS and...i cant remember the rest of the details stated in the contract...:D

if youre really interested and looking for other options to get to AUS then attend their free orientation.... then decide if you want to pursue ANSM coz it would be nth times the price of doing it on ur own... :twocents:

best of luck! :redbeathe:loveya:

bank draft (facilitated by banks) is different from money order (normally facilitated by post office system)..

i assume your payment is for an Australian nursing board.. just would like to remind (for the sake of it) that the Australian nursing boards want to receive payments in the currency of Australian dollar.. therefore in your dealings with a bank or post office, clarify with said institutions that you want your payment to your payee in Australian currency (not US Dollar)..

i believe this is not possible with a regular Philippine bank because such could only issue bank draft in US Dollar currency.. you may try to check with an Australian bank like ANZ and Standard Chartered Bank, i think they could help you with issuing bank draft in Australian dollar currency..

that's why it is a bit convenient to pay via credit card, on the assumption that your credit card will not be hacked.. tsk tsk..:twocents:

yep you're correct. I called BDO and they only give bank drafts by USD

I also called the post office for the money order but they just sell money orders for local use. ahuhuhuh!!!! :(

hi everybody! do you know how to be a registered mental health nurse in australia? How to do about the registration to become one? aelith, do you know if you could study this in a university and earn registration after graduating? thanks!

Yea you can survive with 200 AUD pw. It really would depend on where you want to stay and what lifestyle you want. :) I can help you find accommodation for your stay.

Hi aelith, i have a friend going to sydney by early next year, can you inform me of your contact or whatever for accomodation? thanks:saint:
