New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hi cioman94..

do you know of anyone who signed up with ASNC (Australian Student Nurse Consultancy) and is now in Australia? Are you familiar with modules? and what ever exams we have to take? Are the exams difficult?

thank you

hi, actually almost 80% of the discussions in this thread is about QNC which is the nursing council that ASNC will process your application.. thus, any QNC or CAS or Challenge Test or MOdules comments/posts that you would read in this thread in the previous pages, eh that's it, that's the answer to your questions..

ASNC is legitimate, dont worry about it.. they have already sent many nurses to australia (after passing the Challenge Test).. But, then you will have to spend a lot if you sign with them, last time i know its about or almost P500,000.00 excluding the online modules if you fail the test A.. You could easily pass the exams IF and the big IF is IF you have the review materials.. but ASNC will provide the materials to you, and also they will look for a nursing home job for you in australia (even if you have zero or minimal experience, no wonder they will charge higher fee as i mentioned earlier)..

MOst of the members here are applying to QNC on their own, we help each other here, it will cost you much much less, actually less than P100,000 (assuming you pass the exams, meaning no more online modules).. so if you're really interested, try reading this thread from page 40 onwards.. sorry i cant write everthing in as much as i want to, its all in this thread.. btw, read the QNC website first before you read this thread.. okey, any clarificatory questions, ask anyone here esp. Aelith, we will help you.. :nuke:

wow! this is amazing! the forum, i mean. thank you so much! i'll do as advised.ill read from page 40 onwards.

hi aelith, just asking for your opinion:

in finding an employer to nominate or sponsor an RN (with Australian license), do you think there is a big difference between:

a) a 1-year experience nurse still living working here in the philippines and looking for an Australian employer thru internet or email communication..

b) a 1-year experience nurse who got a tourist/visitor visa then went to australia as a "tourist" but actually will be searching for an employer to nominate/sponsor him for 457 Visa..

I mean if letter "b" is viable, then i would rather try to obtain a visitor visa and fly to australia to apply/find work or employer who will nominate me, thus after finding an employer, all we have to do is to convert my visa to 457 visa.. What's your take on this strategy????

thanks as usual..

Just a few clarifications:

ASNC's fees will not amount to 500k; not even close. The latest fee is only 300k Php inclusive of Challenge Test only plus review materials, employment, visa, accommodation, food, one-way air fare. For the modules you will be adding an extra 1k AUD per module.

Another thing is, you may be employed in either a hospital or a nursing home as an RN if you have no experience. It will depend on which positions are available for you at the time you finished your registration with QNC. The CEO, however, told me that if one is inexperienced, he/she is more likely to be employed in a Country Area. The Country Area would not be in a far flung area or the Outback. He actually gave me the area where an inexperienced nurse may be employed and it's actually just around the big cities lol. To name a few, Sunshine coast, Canberra, Gold Coast. Those are good areas ;)

And yes, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask us here. :) We'll try to help as much as we can.

Actually, your problem is that the tourist visa has a no further stay condition on it. Meaning, you won't be able to apply for any other visa whilst in Australia. This is as far as I know. You can do better with a student visa.

hello!

i am VERY interested to apply for registration in queensland. i would really appreciate it if you could email me more abouyt the application.

thank you very much. :wink2:

I'm new here too. I am very interested in more infos regarding Queensland application.

Any reviewers? Where is the location of the review school that charges $7000 AUD:icon_roll

Have you heard of Rev Asia located in Las Pinas. They say they are the most inexpensive... Do not know the details of their package. Saw a thread at nclex-rn.net.

Hi cioman94!

You are indeed heaven sent! However, I can't pm as of the moment since I have not reached the required number of messages. I will do just that as soon as I reach the quota.. with regards to your visa queries, according to what I have heard, as long as you are already registered in qld as a nurse, you can easily get hired there. What I have researched is this.. from Business (short stay) visa- subclass 456, it can be converted to a Business Long Stay one if you already have an employer. That is according to my research.. However, I think you already know that the QNC will grant you a subclass 456 visa when you go there for the part B challenge test or the Clinical Module.. subclass 456 visa is good for 3 months I think so after getting your license, you still have time to look for a job. I hope that helps you somewhat..

Hi Everyone,

I found all the info in this thread very helpful. I am currently in the process of collating my documents for registration in Victoria. I have no work experience (it was really hard looking for a job in the Philippines). I am currently in Melbourne on a 457 visa (care of Hubby).

I know that this question might have been answered in one of the posts, but I was wondering what I can do with the Verification of my license, which is one of the requirements of NBV. Would PRC require me to personally lodge it, or can it be done by one of my relatives.

If one goes to the PRC and requests for the Verification for Australia, would they know that right away?

Advanced thanks for the replies ... :)

yup heard of them. I've been emailing them since I am in Mindanao. They have this phone seminar wherein you have to pay 200 pesos. 100 for the seminar and 100 for the mailing of documents if you can't come to their office. But I did not pursue the seminar simply because they are inviting me to do the seminar but they do not give the full details of what to do. they will just tell you to deposit the money for the seminar to a certain account. and then you still have to ask them how will they know if i am the one who paid? How will they know where to send the documents and etc. but i am still interested about the details of their program.

Hi! I went to PRC-Manila two weeks ago for verification as well. After getting and filling up a Stateboard Verification Slip from the Information desk, I just followed the detailed list at the back of the slip on how to go about the validation..

For the requirements, they need:

1. Original and photocopy of your valid PRC ID.

2. Original and photocopy of Transcript of Records.

I really don't know if a relative of yours can do it for you.. Maybe if you give a letter or authorization..:D well , just don't know..

But try calling them and ask to be sure.. 736-22-48..

Hope that helps!
