Ok, the title probably didn't make much sense, but I was referring to skin. seriously, 5 new zits in one shift!! Not only that, by the end of the shift I felt a cold sore on my bottom lip forming...and Idont even remember the last time I had a cold sore! I work nights (7p-7a) and ever since I started a few months ago, my skin has had a turn for the worse! And it had cleared up to being semi-decent the past few years...and I'm 25 y/o and still breaking out.
Has anyone had skin problems(or it getting worse) once working nights?
What to do, what to do???

LOL! I have been stressing a bit lately... starting school again soon and about to start a new job in a new hospital....
I rarely ever breakout zit wise anyway, but lately I have been getting hives and rashes that I usually get when I get stressed..... but yesterday morning I was astonished when I looked in the mirror and had TWO huge white heads! one on my chin the other on my nose
promptly popped those suckers and went about my day lol

STRESS!!!!! Working nights your sleep habits go downhill along with your snacking and nutritional habits. More coffee, chocolate and chips.......I just bought ProAvtive for my daughter a teenager) and it's a miracle!

I DID know what you meant, actually, haha.
I don't think night shift in of itself is to blame for your new friends.
However, I have noticed that the schedule of working nights makes it difficult to eat healthfully, drink plenty of water, and sleep. It also messes with your usual hygiene habits.
Add all that, plus a little stress and...voila! We have zits!

My instructor told me that stress has nothing do with pimples.

Serious!! I'm day shift, with rotating nights, and I worked my first night this Monday. Omg all I did was drink coffee/energy drinks and eat!! And then I ate when I got home BEFORE I WENT TO BED!

I can't say enough good things about ProActiv - I had cystic acne from my CPAP mask (where the straps were on my face) and I've been using ProActiv now for months and I finally have skin worth showing again!

Tip: sometimes those are not pimples exactly but some kind of vescicle or some allergic/exposure thingy half the time. When you are home and ready for bed, try some St. Ives mineral clay-type mask. I think there is one that is green in color and says "firming" (inexpensive). Put just a dab on the spot and rub it in a little, then put a dab more and let it be over nite. The next day you should have less of a bump and less redness. It may take another night to pretty much be gone. As soon as you see something started, take care of it.

I've encountered the same problem since going to midnights. I find that the Neutrogena skin care regime was helpful to me.
Actually they have found there is a correlation between stress and pimples. It has to do with hormones and then unhealthy behavior (not sleeping, eating poorly, etc) that people engage in when they are stressed.

Still happens to me... I credit it to 12 hours of stress and running my butt off without much of a break. I actually clean my face off with alcohol wipes. My coworkers give me awkward stares, but if you think about it, they're basically the same as those acne face wipes with alcohol as the main ingredient. Just remember to let it dry before you take in a deep breath!
