Anyone used NCSBN's learningext.com? What can you say about it?

I paid for the NCSBN 3 week review course and found it just OK.The customer service was terrible and the tech support people were rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend this program to anyone.Read Ann Sylvestris RN book and you will do fine-

I used some of Suzannes plan along with the Saunders book and passed the first time.Doing 100 questions per day from a variety of sources and reading the rationales is the most critical part -I did like 10,000 questions before I sat for the NCLEX-RN-at least! Also believing you can pass and visualizing the RN license in your pocket is the best way to get your license.Good luck. hey - i think ncsbn's questions are equal to kaplan in critical thinking. they are definately upper level thinking questions and are a good indicator for how you will do on th nclex if you score above a 50. their rationale's are not good though....they dont tell you why wrong answers are wrong.

kaplan is far superior in rationale, but ncsbn is great for the extra pratice. they cite ALL referenes from textbooks you have probably used in shchool (i recognised almost all of them). the content is also good.

I am a big believer on the "Cap" of content you can study. If you do 3,000 questions from the right sources you are BOUND to start seeing questions again - I was told this in nursing school and found it true towards the end of my studying. choose reputable sources (in my opinion, KAPLAN, ncsbn, and saunders) and do questions!! when i did the ncsbn questions, i considered it yet another reputable "high level" soure to get some questions from:) good luck!!!!!

Anyone here take HESI, and if so how does it compare to NCLEX. Someone I know told me to do NCSBN to review for HESI, I hope I am not wasting my time since I take HESI next week! Any help would be appreciated.

I agree NCSBN ques. are on the higher Level for critical thinking, But Kaplan is far more into critical thinking....I used both and also used Saunders' Comp Review (NCLEX-PN) for content and also strategies, I used Kaplan too, but their strategies seemed not as easy to use Vs. Saunders....I used NCSBN for 3 weeks prior to NCLEX-PN, and I passed @ my 1st attempt w/ 85 ques. + I had been out-of-school since Aug. 05....What will really help you conquer this exam is GOD, do your part by studying w/ the right resources and pray, you should have no problem......

Anyone used NCSBN's learningext.com? What can you say about it?

I heard about it here in allnurses, and from other nursing lists. I got it, and found that while it was helpful, I didn't like it. I can say though, that the questions were very difficult, and it placed me in the mind to really think hard. But, I did not get any questions that remotely looked like it...or Kaplan. It was a strange exam...

I used NCSBN review and it is an excellent resource. Please bear in mind that every review class is good depending on how you look at it. Seven of my friends and I did the NCSBN. All of us passed, on the other hand some of my class mates went to three months Kaplan review and they also passed.

The secret to passing any Standard test is to understand the contents of what you will be tested on, once you grasp it, you can answer any question. I believe most of the questions on NCLEX is based on critical thinking.

Study what is available to you and make sure you understand the theorem behind the named topics:uhoh3: under review because that is the key to your success. Enjoy your studies and never forget that patient SAFETY is always your priority. I wish you good LUCK!

I think that it is best to choose the system that you relate to the best. I think that the learning extension program helped in critical thinking, but I didn't like it much other than that. Nothing related to any of the questions I got, Saunders, Delmar's, Incredibly Easy...I didn't recognize a single question, but still passed NCLEX-PN at 85 questions. Bottom line is study, study and do as many questions as you can tolerate. I did at least 150-300 per day for 2 months in addition to reading and re-reading material until I was blue in the face (but I read to comprehend), and I was still shocked at the questions. In retrospect, I would not have done as many hours, but the bottom line is that I passed the first time at minimum. Doing questions with increased difficulty prepares you to think critically and I think that if you even do 50-100 and read two hours a day, you may be ready, simply because there is NO WAY to gauge WHAT will be asked on NCLEX. If you read to comprehend, rather than to memorize, most questions may be able to get you to the point to pass NCLEX.

The site is horrible. I found the question to be quite easy, and not challenging like Kaplan's questions. The responses to their questions was only one word, unlike kaplan.

I felt that i wasted my $49. I only went to the site 3 times to give it a chance, I finished all their 20Q quizzes in one day.

BTW you don't practice test style, you are always in quiz mode, as if you were doing saunders or some other book

Just a heads up for those that DO decide to take the learningext review: When taking the pre-test, you MUST complete the entire test and click on SUBMIT before closing the window. Otherwise, your answers are NOT saved and you cannot resume where u left off but start from the Q#1 all over again....I wasn't aware of this and the TechSupport person said there is no way to retrieve the answers and apologized for the inconvenience

I got this a week before testing and am very happy I did. Since I had been using Saunders for the past year I was burnt on it and found the NCSBN to be the most similar to the NCLEX exam questions that I got. BTW, I thought Saunders 4th edition was over-rated. I found very few new questions and not enough of the alternative type even on the CD to make it worth the extra money. Just my opinion but the 3rd Edition would have been sufficient for me.

hey um, I was reading the comments on the learningext and it seems to get mixed reviews. I have taken Kaplan and failed the Nclex 3 times, so I emailed one of my professors and she recommended the learninext program to me... I'm writing cuz my funds are limited and I do not want and can't waste another dime on test prep that is not working. the prices are too good to be true..... does it really work?

Yes, the ncsbn does work. Im taking this exan for the 2nd time. I wish i used it for the first time. VERY, similar questions and answers. Also i recommend the susan's plan. Both are a great plan. Hope this helps,

:D
