E & K Vocational Nursing School in Dallas?
I got my HHA/CNA through this school back in 1996, ..... The name of the school has changed several times due to new ownership, I believe the most current name of the school is: Dallas Nursing Institute (DNI)... I have a friend of mine that is a LVN, that graduated from Concorde, that told me that her cousin was no too satisified with DNI, due to No IV threapy training... But look them up... I got my LVN from Navarro College, and I'm sooooo satisfied, they train at a RN level, because most of the LVN's that graduate through them, go back and bridge through them and are the level of skill for the RN program....

LPN's with small children.... question for you
Hi...I'm a LVN in Texas with a 3 yr old, and it is tough balancing work + school and motherhood. I work in an ambulatory care environment, so basically I work day hrs 8-5 or 7/4:30 somedays, with weekends off. I use to work 16 hr doubles, but was getting to tired to do anything during the week, the commuter is absolutely correct, if you have experience than you have a better opportunity for day-shifts, but most new grads have to work the "Not soo desired shifts". :trout: But nonetheless, anything can work as long as you make it work.

CNAs are very disrespectful to LVN, that is me..
Bala Shark, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! I'm a new nurse @ a LTC, and the morning aides are totally hateful, but the kicker is, that my pm aides are way more approachable.....I work double weekends, and I totally don't like were I work at, but I'm praying I can find something else.....I don't like the way the CNA's act at the place I work at........

Is part time LPN program doable with kids?
HI, when I started LVN school (Texas), my son was born a month before I had to start the program, he was barely a month old. My husband helped me tremedously (He would get up w/ the baby and feed him, change him, everything), he knew how much school meant to me, and also the reward in the end. A girl in my class had 5 kids, and she was able to do it, and many others were in the same situation;school and kids, some even had part-time jobs. We were all in a FULL-TIME program (12 months), and we all graduated and became LVNs, so yeah YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT!!!!

Any tips for HESI-PN, I'm STRESSED!!
I took the HESI for my LVN Program last year Aug 05....I failed the 1st time scored 745.....2nd time I used Meds Pub and Saunders Comp Review, and just did questions (75-100) everyday..until test day. We also had to score 800 to graduate (we had 3 chances)...I scored a 965 on my 2nd attempt...Just pray and ask God to help and guide you...You can do it !!!

NCSBN learningext.com
I agree NCSBN ques. are on the higher Level for critical thinking, But Kaplan is far more into critical thinking....I used both and also used Saunders' Comp Review (NCLEX-PN) for content and also strategies, I used Kaplan too, but their strategies seemed not as easy to use Vs. Saunders....I used NCSBN for 3 weeks prior to NCLEX-PN, and I passed @ my 1st attempt w/ 85 ques. + I had been out-of-school since Aug. 05....What will really help you conquer this exam is GOD, do your part by studying w/ the right resources and pray, you should have no problem......
