Nursing Students NCLEX

OMG !! I am speechless. I dont even know what to say, except I have NEVER in my entire life been through such a gut-wrenching experience. I had ALL 265 DANG questions !!! As most people feel, I am sure I failed. I cannot believe it. I went into feeling okay, after I hit 175 I just knew I'd be taking the entire thing. I have heard of people passing with 265, but I am SOOOOOO.... scared. I am supposed to start my new job on 2/7/04, and I will be so upset if I dont pass.

I had 3 check all that apply, no math, approx. 10 OB, and 7 PEDS. I had NO idea there would be so many priority questions. PLEASE someone give me some hope and get me thru the LONGEST weekend of my life.

:( :bluecry1:  :sniff:

Because dang it I have worked SO hard and deserve to be a :nurse:

Congrats on passing! Must feel damn good - now go get drunk and celebrate~ j/k. Don't know my results yet - keeping my fingers crossed - praying for both Ashly and myself! Hope our news is as good as yours...Have an excellent Week! [/size]

Well, I took the NCLEX years ago...but it was the computer system. My school did something really great to prepare us. They had us take a special course (I wish I could remember the name)...it not only refreshed nursing knowledge needed for the NCLEX but most importantly it taught us how the NCLEX works. It basically gives you a more difficult question if you answered the prior question correctly or an easier question if you missed the last question. You are basically opperating on a grid line (above the line = pass, below the line = fail). For this reason, it is very important to GO SLOW, Read & REread each question. Throw out the first two answers you know are wrong, reread the question, rephrase the question then answer the question. If you are answering a lot of difficult questions correctly, then you are prooving your competence as a nurse...the computer can pass you as early as 70 questions. You go along until you either convince the computer you pass or not...and it turns off. If you are operating along the grid line rather than above it or below it....the computer keeps giving you more questions. The most questions you can have is 265. And whether you pass or not depends on how you answered the very last question. I had a friend that passed at 265 and one that failed. I continue to tell everyone taking the NCLEX to go slow....It is a trick test. They are really testing to see if you read and intrepreted the question correctly...and love to throw in trick answers for those speedy test takers to miss. They love priority questions...ie: which patient room should you go to first: and like to include abnormal values for a COPD patient (trick: COPDers lab values are always abnormal but they've adapted and that is normal for them) thus, that is the trick....don't choose that answer as they would not be the priority patient to see first as they are fine. If you watch for this and go slow you should be fine. Good luck to you.

nothing yet.... i start orientation at my new job this morning. i am still waiting. from what i have heard and read nc is slow as molasses and takes there sweet time getting results out. i have been calling the number all weekend, as if they work on the weekends.

i having a feeling i may know something by this evening. please keep praying. i will let everyone know once i find something out. thank you all !!!
