Mount Sinai ABSN Summer 2020

Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?

I read on previous posts that most students walk together to the train stations , so I feel like most of us will most likely walk in groups . It’s not the safest neighborhood , but I think everyone will be fine .

No interview. But I did talk to Maria Gallo alot, she gave my some tips on the application. She liked me a lot, so maybe that helped? But she recently resigned.

is there a facebook/whatsapp group for fall 2020 cohort?

CONGRATS on everyones acceptances! I'm wondering if anyone knows something about this and can help me out. Basicallyyyyy, I applied for Fall 2020 in late November and all my coursework was verified by mid December. I was taking my las prereq at the time(Microbiology) so I didn't submit my official transcript with my micro grade. I was told that once the official transcript was ready, to send it straight to Philips School of Nursing..which I did. I called about 20000 times to confirm receipt but no response. So I decided to dig deeper because I haven't received a decision yet and many people did who applied much later than I did. At first I just assumed I was rejected but now I'm wondering could they not be reviewing my application because they or nursingCAS do not have my official transcript with my Microbiology grade(the grade is in the app just the official transcript was sent to PSON later and not uploaded onto CAS)?? I just sent it to nursingCAS as precaution buttttt now I'm bugging out a little. Thankfully I have been accepted to another school, so If I completely messed this up I won't hate myself forever buttttt Mt Sinai is still my top choice(I thinkkkk). Can anyone lend some advice? Thanks so much!

and also, has anyone heard of rejection letters being sent out yet? Is anyone who applied still waiting on a response?

CONGRATS!Yes the school participates in HESI. A percentage of each HESI exam goes towards your Final grade for whatever class you’re taking it for. Our first semester classes are going to be different from your cohorts first semester, so it’s hard to say what it’ll be like for you guys. But for our first semester we had one week in school and one week online classes with exams online on your laptop/iPad and finals in person. We had patho final online Because our professor was horrible and the whole class probably would’ve failed.

our second semester all classes were in person and exams also in person on you laptop/iPad. But because of covid-19 our finals and about 2 exams were online. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the reply and info! How do they prepare you for the HESI? I’ve read on a few other threads that some students were forced to drop out of ABSN programs bc of it, so that part is really important for me. Also, what’re the formats for exams (I.e., multiple choice, T/F, short answer, etc)?

Same here. This location is actually a deciding factor between another program I’m thinking about. If it had been in its original Midtown location, I would have leaned more towards this school. I know several people who work/live around East Harlem and the Bronx who are telling me East Harlem is a dangerous place.

I suppose if we stay in groups it should be fine. ?

Sounds like you need to send in your official transcript to NursingCas. If you entered Micro as a prerequisite into NursingCas without an official transcript for them to verify the grade it will put the application in sort of a pending status and they will not send it in as completed to the school. You might want to email their support team to confirm your status.

Thank you for your response! I emailed their support team right away when this occurred to me and sent them the transcript to be safe. Hopefully will hear back from NursingCAS tomorrow. My app says Verified though and I have confirmed with mount sinai months ago that they received my app. Mrs. Gallo told me to send the transcript directly to the school and gave me an address to do so. She just never confirmed it was received. I've email the PSON email address about 100 times about it. Hoping I get some answers this week. Thanks again for responding!
