Published

Hi all,

Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?

Thanks!

in 2 weeks .

Are you sure PSON takes the credits for Patho & Pharm from Portage? I recall someone at PSON saying that PSON is picky on who they take credits from for specific courses.

I'm not positive, but my understanding is that that applies for courses that are not considered optional pre-reqs, so coursework like Adult Nursing etc are much harder to attempt to transer. Patho and Pharm are considered optional pre-reqs that you can otherwise take before the semester begins, but once the semester starts you've GOTTA take it at mt sinai.

@Alpha Lyrae I want to, but I'm just scared two months and a half would not be enough time to complete all that coursework as well as my APII online course (even though I am not struggling w APII and find it way easier than API). If I start now, would I be able to finish BOTH courses by July 1st?

yes, they take it. I took Nutrition and Psychology class through Portage. They transferred them. I'm thinking to take at least Patho there. I need to register and start.

Hey everyone!

I was just accepted to the ABSN program today so I'm very excited about that. I have read about all the pros/cons on this thread and still have an important decision to make. To former or current students in the program, does the school participate in HESI exams? Also, I'm aware that PSON utilizes a "hybrid" format. What does this mean for quizzes or exams? Are they in person or online?

I am taking Ethics in Portage because PSON told me they would accept the credits, but I am not quite sure that PSON would take Patho and Pharm credits from Portage because they need to make sure that the syllubus or material matches with what PSON teaches.

CONGRATS!Yes the school participates in HESI. A percentage of each HESI exam goes towards your Final grade for whatever class you’re taking it for. Our first semester classes are going to be different from your cohorts first semester, so it’s hard to say what it’ll be like for you guys. But for our first semester we had one week in school and one week online classes with exams online on your laptop/iPad and finals in person. We had patho final online Because our professor was horrible and the whole class probably would’ve failed.

our second semester all classes were in person and exams also in person on you laptop/iPad. But because of covid-19 our finals and about 2 exams were online. Hope this helps! Good luck!

CONGRATS! When did you apply and did you apply for the fall or Summer term(I know that they are now combined)? . I haven’t heard back anything and applied in December so I’m assuming I’m rejected

Just email whoever is in charge of admissions to confirm. I’m in the cohort Right before the fall 2020 cohort and they did accept portage credits for pharm and patho. But since you’re already taking ethics with portage do make sure to ask them up to how many online credit classes do they accept. The reason why I say to ask is because they are consistently changing the rules and I don’t want to give you the wrong info about how many credits they will accept

awesome, thank you.

I just got the response from school. They do accept the Portage credits for pharmacology and Pathophysiology. Does anyone plans to take these classes through Portage learning?

If I’m accepted I will

Same here. If I get accepted, I will take the courses or at least one of them.

Since you took Pharm and Patho from Portage learning already, do you recall how long it took you to complete each course?

Does anyone know how much the deposit is?
