Coming out of a program as an NP with hardly any TRUE bedside experience is absolutely ludicrous (especially in a post-COVID world) on multiple fronts. I wouldn't call it a "one-sided view" but rather, an 'opinion.' To each his/her own but there are MANY hiring managers who are very reluctant to hire such an applicant given the fact that their title (NP) and actual experience level is not congruent by any means. Again, YMMV! Good luck though with whatever you choose to do!

NYU ABSN FAll 2021
HIGHLY recommend AGAINST going into the direct entry programs. Students who graduate from these programs are not highly looked upon due to their lack of clinical and bedside experience amongst many other things. Many hiring managers on the floors tend to look away when an applicant comes in under this pedigree.

Doesn't matter where you go to nursing school. Just get in, do very well, and love the profession/field. If you don't REALLY want this, you are going to fail out and become miserable (on top of being in debt!) for a very long time. Each and every accelerated program is the same with the same nonsense, annoyances, and everything else in between. You gotta have the passion!

Guys - each and every ABSN program consists of of self teaching. That is simply the nature of an accelerated program. To succeed, you need to be incredibly disciplined and passionate about the material. If you don't, you are not going to make it. The program went through a massive overhaul prior to COVID-19 and was only set back even further when the pandemic truly hit. They are still in the midst of hiring new professors, administration, and so on and so forth. The reality of this program and every other in the NYC area are: they are NOT easy. I am from Cohort 5 and graduated in December of 2020. I am not trying to sway those away from entering the realm of nursing, but PLEASE make sure you TRULY want it prior to jumping into a brand new career path. When you REALLY think about it, there is not much of a difference between this program, NYU, and the many others in our area.

What I am saying is also subjective, I get that but the fact of the matter is that each and every accelerated program is going to have similar issues regarding logistics, learning platforms, and everything else involved in a program that CRAMS an entire program into one year/15 months of time. I attend Mount Sinai and I know people that are very close to me that attend Pace, but again, my opinion is subjective and may differ from the next guy/gal. Good luck with your decision and I wish you all the best.
