  1. This thread is for PMHNP... but congrats!
  2. The deadline only passed 3 days ago and they strictly indicate that "you can expect to receive a decision notification via email following your program's respective application deadline." Give it time.
  3. Coming out of a program as an NP with hardly any TRUE bedside experience is absolutely ludicrous (especially in a post-COVID world) on multiple fronts. I wouldn't call it a "one-sided view" but rather, an 'opinion.' To each his/her own but there are MANY hiring managers who are very reluctant to hire such an applicant given the fact that their title (NP) and actual experience level is not congruent by any means. Again, YMMV! Good luck though with whatever you choose to do!
  4. I just heard from a friend that they did NOT get into the PSON Program. Decisions ARE going out including both acceptances AND rejections. Stay confident folks!
  5. HIGHLY recommend AGAINST going into the direct entry programs. Students who graduate from these programs are not highly looked upon due to their lack of clinical and bedside experience amongst many other things. Many hiring managers on the floors tend to look away when an applicant comes in under this pedigree.
  6. Why oh why would you apply to only one program? Please don't take offense to this, but what was your reasoning?
  7. Has anyone gotten rejected yet from PSON?
  8. Doesn't matter where you go to nursing school. Just get in, do very well, and love the profession/field. If you don't REALLY want this, you are going to fail out and become miserable (on top of being in debt!) for a very long time. Each and every accelerated program is the same with the same nonsense, annoyances, and everything else in between. You gotta have the passion!
  9. Guys, there are no Physics/Chemistry questions on HESI...
  10. Guys - each and every ABSN program consists of of self teaching. That is simply the nature of an accelerated program. To succeed, you need to be incredibly disciplined and passionate about the material. If you don't, you are not going to make it. The program went through a massive overhaul prior to COVID-19 and was only set back even further when the pandemic truly hit. They are still in the midst of hiring new professors, administration, and so on and so forth. The reality of this program and every other in the NYC area are: they are NOT easy. I am from Cohort 5 and graduated in December of 2020. I am not trying to sway those away from entering the realm of nursing, but PLEASE make sure you TRULY want it prior to jumping into a brand new career path. When you REALLY think about it, there is not much of a difference between this program, NYU, and the many others in our area.
  11. Take Patho and Pharm on Portage!! Save yourself the agony and stress! The horror, the horror!!
  12. What I am saying is also subjective, I get that but the fact of the matter is that each and every accelerated program is going to have similar issues regarding logistics, learning platforms, and everything else involved in a program that CRAMS an entire program into one year/15 months of time. I attend Mount Sinai and I know people that are very close to me that attend Pace, but again, my opinion is subjective and may differ from the next guy/gal. Good luck with your decision and I wish you all the best.
  13. Good luck everyone!
  14. Guys for the millionth time, this is just the true nature of an accelerated nursing program.. You are going to hear similar stories no matter which program you attend. You just need to fight through it and remain passionate. If you are entering this field for the salary and three day work week, you are going to probably quit within the first week of work. People’s opinions are often subjective although some of them may be true, you have to make it an enjoyable experience on your own. With that said, I still stand by my original post indicating that Pace should be avoided at all costs.
  15. If you have any questions regarding Pace, I would recommend going into the forum from last year and asking the students themselves.
  16. I can tell you from first-hand experience, the situation at Pace is absolutely nothing compared to what’s going on at Mount Sinai, but that’s all I will say.
  17. In all seriousness, each and every accelerated program is always going to get mixed reviews. It’s very difficult to cram an entire curriculum of nursing school into 11 to 15 months. There’s always going to be logistical issues and you’ll always feel like you’re really not learning anything. You need to be really self disciplined and really need to know how to study independently. All nursing school is is a key to take that NCLEX exam. I’m going to be taking mine in December or January and I’m literally only using UWorld as opposed to anything I “learned” in nursing school. It’s tough but extremely doable. The one program that I will never, never recommend to literally anyone is Pace. I have friends and colleagues who are attending NYU, Mount Sinai, Wagner, and everyone literally is speaking along the same terms. You honestly can’t “choose” a wrong program, it’s all going to be very similar in nature.
  18. The ratings are put together by the founder of Papa John’s.
  19. When ordering chicken, do you guys prefer it grilled or fried?
  20. The vending machines at PSON are out of this world.
  21. Every single ABSN program is a mess, there is absolutely no way to avoid that.
  22. Just to let you all know, accelerated programs by nature, will almost always be unorganized. No matter where you go, just prepare for this in advance if you can.
