Is it really a disease, or are they deluded? Who knows?
Here is an interesting interview. Too bad the audio does not match the video.

Bizarre disease, miserable people, and no one believes them. An interesting article. One physician is reminded of how Lyme Disease was thought of as a delusion, and it is still difficult to diagnose if a physician does not think of you as being at risk. Here in New England, I know of several people who literally had to beg more than one physician to test their children (or vets to test their pets) before getting a definitive diagnosis of Lymes.
It does not look like this is going to go away just because medicine believes this is a mental problem rather than a physical one. Somehow, I can't see little kids choosing to do this to themselves. Can you? I know some can choose to hurt themselves, but I think we are talking about a lot of people at this point.
Hello to all!
I was browsing MSN and came across an article about "Morgellons". Aparrently it is some sort of parasitic disease that is being investigated by the CDC.
Here is the link. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14251131/
For that matter, has anyone ever came across a strange or weird disease?
According to those afflicted, there is a sensation of bugs crawling over the skin, accompanied by a rash, and strangest of all, blue and red fibers that sprout from the skin.
Is this legit or is it a hysterical public?
Phil.
Hi Phil,
There was a post about Morgellons on here a few months ago. I tried to find it for you, but couldn't locate it. I looked at a few websites on msn that was just dedicated to morgellons and it seems to be a real disease and not a joke. According to what I read, the only correlations between the people that have Morgellons is that one time or another they all had limes disease. Hope this helps you out.

news article from today:
i was watching abc primetime tonight seems like the doctors will throw all symptoms they don't understand into the 'delusional' dustbin
there was another segment of the program that dealt with trimethylaminuria in which their bodies give off the smell of dead fish..we had a thread some time ago in which a nurse c/o of a coworker who smelled like this
I read about this disease a few months ago and I'm T-E-R-R-I-F-I-E-D, TERRIFIED of it! Someone here mentioned earlier that a lot of nurses are coming down with it....If that's true it might just be enough to keep me from becoming a nurse. I'm more afraid of getting this than HIV or Hep C. I did read of its possible connection to Lyme disease. And I also read of one person having success at treating the symptoms with Diflucan. Maybe its possible that it is somehow related to yeast or some other fungal infection thats facilitated by the antibiotics that Lyme patients have to take. I'm probably wrong. But just a thought.
Ironically I was watching a story about this disease earlier tonite on Primetime Medical Mysteries. Here's the link:
http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=2283503&page=1
This link also has a video clip about the subject. It appears to possible be contagious. An entire family was inflicted with it, after the husband/father died. They did not link his death to this disease though. Likely because there is still so little known about this disease.
Ooops guess I should have read futher before making this post. I didn't realize someone had already posted this link. Sorry about that.

Exactly! It doesn't matter whether this thing is caused by a parasite, self-excoriation, or El Cucuy (which, heck, at this point could be true). If this condition drives people batty enough to commit suicide, it's nasty stuff and I feel sorry for them. Even if these patients are crazy, the condition still requires diligent research for causes and treatments.
